Californis Cops Are Now Able To Dowload Your Phones Contents During Traffic Stops...

Somewhat misleading as they first need to have a violation in which the car is impounded to do the inventory. If They pull you over for a moving violation, I'm pretty sure they aren't gonna ask if you have any weapons, drugs, or cell phones in the car and do routine downloads!

when i got busted, they were going through my phone when i was in the back of the cop car!

the first things they ask you if your pulled over here in the bay area, on probation? any weapons or drugs in the car?

Well I never did like cellphones because they always get lost with all sorts of information on em.

But I'm pretty sure that most new cells have a memory chip that can be removed and most also have the ability to passcode access. Either precautions would have prevent the cops initial search which snowballed and screwed the guy.

However, I would think that a good attorney could appeal the decision and have it overturned.

"Florida and Georgia are among the states that give no protection to a phone during a search. In particular, Florida law treats a smartphone as a “container” for the purposes of a search, similar to say a cardboard box open on the passenger seat"

That's sooo wrong!

If they are using the same gadget that they are using in Michigan, I am pretty sure that I read that it bypassed any password protection.

pretty sure it does it also access the file that keeps all your delted information... you know that "bug" that perfectly saved everything for the cop in a secret folder not accessible to the user....

my boy , who is a super computer guy, develops apps for android.......

i asked him to develop an app that straight erases the phone at the touch of a button, he's on it.....

he said the phone most likely will have to be rooted......

Maybe keep a tupperware of water under the drivers seat to toss the phone in if you know your fucked, or a hammer.

So even if you delete all traces like texts and pics, they can still access all the deleted info from the day you bought it?

i would be all over that, especially if it wiped the OS and left a picture of the bill of rights and/or a middle finger.

what the FUCK? This can't be legal. And I don't think it's legal for cops to search your phone just because you were arrested or they're doing a pull over search on the fly.

last time i got pulled over traveling out of state i'd just read something the day before about this phone scan stuff on infowars. so i just removed both my batteries real quick and tossed em in the side figured they can't read it if it dosn't have power.
