looks alright. but you can drop the bulb until it's just a few inches away from the plants, and you should also think about supplemental side and bottom lighting as cfl's have terrible penetration

By the looks of things i'd say you have the right idea. There's always room for improvement though.

not too shaby for ur first time. i may want to in the future get 2x125 or get 1 250w CFL and if u get a hood it will direct all that light down and ull utilize all that cfl has to offer, if allowed to go up u will lose out on some of those ever so important lumes. nice idea on the side lighting. gl man and welcome to IC mag

dude when i did my first micro years ago was very much same as yours! this gonna sound crazy but go buy a small mirror and put it underneath your plant pots facing the light helps keep it nice and warm cheaply and improves light properties....

Another good idea for better light dispersion is to cover the inside walls with an emergency blanket or reflective mylar. I got an emergency blanket from walmart for ~$2. There is SO much more light being bounced around now its crazy.
