""The plants are now drying at a safe location and the plants taken last week are almost finished manicuring. It's starting to feel real. We've had a great season and a very successful harvest. We've done this long enough to really appreciate our luck when the stars align as they have this year

Late plants in the cedars

Late plants in the cedars

The three pails taken September 18 are all manicured and weighed. The results are better than I expected. Our smallest plant, at only 12 grams, was our magenta "model". (I think I mistakenly said it was 19 grams in an earlier post). Our heaviest, at 161 grams, was the large plant in Pail #4 that we had to tie off and eventually top because it was falling over. All told, Pail 1 yielded 370 grams, Pail #2 yielded 404 grams and Pail #4 309 grams for a total of 2.4 lbs off three pails. We're very happy and well set for the next year and more.

The swamp site will likely yield more than this and both sites still have late plants on site. Today we went to the cedars to check on it's stragglers - one pail of Sugar Cane Train from House of Love seeds and three pails of Bubba Kush clones that were planted late. Here's how the Bubba Kush pails looked:

And here's the Sugar Cane Train next to the Bubbas (on the right):

I have more pics of the Sugar Cane Trains on my thread in the House of Love seed forum but here's how the buds were looking:

The buds are looking more ripe than they are, probably due to the weather. The trichomes are still clear/cloudy with no amber thrichs and they will fill out with another week, or two if weather permits. There are still no signs of mold and it's supposed to get warmer and sunnier starting tomorrow so they will be fine. We'll assume the unknown clone still out in the swamp is about the same and harvest both site's stragglers once the weather forces our hand.

Over-ripe magenta

Over-ripe magenta

From magenta to deep purple! Though the magenta beauty I photographed throughout the flowering cycle was harvested September 18, I left a few little buds on it to ripen seeds created with late Sugar Cane Train pollen. Hopefully, we're going to make a pink Hawaiian!

Anyway, here's how the over-ripe magenta bud looked today:

Why do you wait to harvest these buds and what changes when its over ripe?

Cheers Mate & good looks!

This plant got pollinated by an early Baby's Breath male. This has already given us a few dozen seeds which are Baby's Breath x Baby's Breath. In addition I hand pollinated a few branches with some late pollen from a Sugar Cane Train male. This has shown up as a few immature seeds in the buds already harvested but the purple buds will be kept on the plant as long as possible in the hopes that the seed will set and we'll also have Baby's Breath x Sugar Cane Train.

We'll also smoke the bud. It will probably be pretty heavy hitting couchlock by then. I'm curious. I really liked the September 18 harvest of this plant.

Beautiful! It looks like everthing is finishing up right on schedule! I'm curious what the total flowering time will end up being for with the SCT, and whether she'll purp up as well.

Respekt!!

Hi festivus, there are 5 SCT females here. The first pistils showed August 5 but until August 25, they were still mainly pre-flowers. So if they are ready October 17, that's 7-10 weeks depending on how you count the flowering cycle. Seems about right. I had to look pretty hard to find anything on August 5 and they were all showing by the 25th. Split the difference and that's an average of about 8-9 weeks. I'll be surprised if we get much more colour though, unless it gets a lot colder.

I have fond memories of Maui. Can't wait for a taste of it during our long winter!

The season winds down.

The season winds down.

Despite the beautiful weather, when I visited the Sugar Cane Trains and Bubba Kush bushes still out in the cedars, they were definitely showing the signs of fall. Beautiful colours and, especially in the case of the Bubbas, ugly brown October mold. Damn. Not much but little pockets here and there that can spread pretty quickly. With several days of wet cool weather ahead I decided to bring in all three pails of Bubbas and one of the five Sugar Cane Trains plants. The SCT actually looked pretty good for mold but one had some spots where it had brushed up against the cedars. Here's the molded top:

and here's the SCT pail. The plant that came down is the big one on the left:

Here's some shots of the Bubbas. Dense little bushes they were.

Finally, some shots of a nice bud on the other big Sugar Cane Train which will be given another week, along with the other small SCTs and the over-ripe Baby's Breath seed branch.
