That's all we need: Prohibition II.
These fundamentalists are trying to outlaw everything.
They just don't want us to have any fun.

It is made by Ken Burns, arguably the best long form documentary film maker of all time.

anything he makes is worth checking out.

The Civil War.

I watched until I fell asleep, so I'll be DVRing the series. I found it very educational and gave me an entirely different perspective on how we got here in the first place.

Those who forget history, and all that....

'That guy' would be Ken Burns and he is the man! :)

I'll be checking out Prohibition as time allows. He's also done The West, Civil War, Baseball, The War, Mark Twain, Jazz, just to name a few. I recommend all of them to any history buffs/docu fans.

Oh! He also did the one on our national parks. I forgot about that one. :)

WTF... Comcast does not seem to have it available, at least not in my area. That's seriously lame, I definitely want to check it out.

[Edit] I found it, got recording scheduled now. Comcast's navigation is kind of stoopid.

Thanks for heads up stoner, I watched part of it then had to change over to boardwalk empire, no dvr here. Really liked it so far, seems like one day we will be the focus of a similar documentary...

Well worth watching. Interesting to note that Prohibition is one of the primary reasons for instating the income tax.

another well done documentary. was fascinated that that time so closely resembles the current Weed Prohibition era.

^ That's 'cuz when alcohol prohibition ended, guess what the new target became... the death of alcohol prohib. was the birth of cannabis prohib, the days of good ol' Harry J. and his BS.

Have watched both so-far... :rasta:

Peace

Part 2 was just as good! My grandparents were irish and lived in the boston area during those times, I like to think they were "scofflaws". Ken Burns was on the Colbert report last week.
