Just wonderin why the "Clone Only" strains like GDP and other's alike can't get "seeded" with the Silver Nitrate method for example?

Just curious.

You could do this, most likely would end up with wide variance of offspring though and not exactly the same characteristics of the original strain.

@Head - problem is when your on the other side of the world and can't get your hands on a clone :(

@Cirog - Would that be because of the silver?

doesnt matter where you are bro as long as you can send them from A to B in 10 days then usually your all good, making s1s isnt a bad idea but you'd be better making your own strains and find what you want out of the smoke, im just starting to make my own beans and am really looking forward to it

just out of curiousity bro where are ya?

They can...read Colloidal Silver below.

this is correct, and no its not from the use of silver. this variance in the offspring is do a process in sexually reproduction called 'crossing over.' to put this in simple terms, during gamete formation (pollen and ova) some of the genes will move around and form new combinations. this is to ensure that plant stressor cant wipe out the population. for example. lets say that plant group A is weak against mold. now if there was no crossing over, every offspring would still be weak and if a mold bloom occurred the entire population in group A would be wiped out. but because there is crossing over, there is a chance that some of the new combinations in genes might have a resistance to mold. so if mold were to bloom, those plants with the resistance would live and breed and this new gene combination would then become the base of any new combination of genes thus lowering the groups change of getting mold. this is the same even if you self a plant. though there is less variation because only one plant donated genes, there will still be some variation. you may need to run numbers of 50-100 plants to see the variations, but they are there. so to bottom line this, S1 is not clone in seed form, but it is very close. just start with your healthiest, best looking plant and go from there.

But that leads to why theres a butt-load of "clone-only" strains out there, without any buyable seeds?

Just confuses me since theres some specials I would like to get my hands on, from another continent, and clones isn't the best way.

Anyways, Thanks ya'll!

@Hemp - Thanks for the lesson ;)
