Heres a tip from an old deer hunter - when you are hiking it pays to stop often to look and listen. If I am carrying plants I stop as much as I walk. It takes twice as long but it definitely helps to hear others BEFORE they hear you.

Claude Hopper - Great advice! I read that same advice on some thread here a little while back (maybe one of yours?) and I have been doing so ever since. Take 5 or 10 steps, stop and listen/look around, take 5 - 10 more. While hiking, especially off the trail, it can be so easy to bring all of your attention on the path, that you zoom in on that and lose awareness of your surroundings, and this method is a great way of avoiding that.
This also to my mind seems to be the way most animals move. When I hear animals moving through the forest, you hear a little rustle, and then silence, and then another little rustle, and silence. Most humans make a constant rustling noise that is very identifiable.
I suppose I am lucky in a way that the terrain is so rocky, as I am able to hop from rock to rock for some of the hike and avoid making any sounds. When I am off the trail and don't have rocks to walk on, I find that I almost tip-toe, toe first then heel, kinda like how I imagine a ninja would. I put my weight onto each step slowly. Of course all this takes much longer, but it is very very stealth.
It's actually a lot of fun, and with my tick suit, sprayed with permethrin, I have not found a single tick on me, and I'm brushing up against lots of foliage. I highly recommend a ryno skin suit if anyone is having tick or bug issues. They're wonderful!

Thought I'd post an update.
For the most part all the plants are looking healthy. These are all about 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall.
There's just one who's not too happy. Not sure why. But since she's in the same hole as all the others there's not much I can do. Maybe she's just sensitive?
Some bugs have been feeding on them. I see mite damage and the faintest sign of slugs feeding, but I made copper rings which for the most part are keeping them off. I think the only reason for the slug damage is because it rained a lot and one of the rings got covered in dirt.
So, I sprayed them all down with permethrin spray, and will probably do so every visit for the next few weeks.
Here's the other hole. These are a little smaller, around 2 1/2 to 3 feet. I culled 3 males already. Damn shame cause they were looking nice and healthy. Most are not showing sex yet. I took these pics just after spraying them. Should have snapped the shots first but oh well.
This one is a blue satellite 2.2 clone

So far I've managed to dodge the bud rot. I did cut 2 buds that got a tiny bit on them. Been using Greencure. So far it's worked great!
Things are just starting to get frosty.
If I can avoid the dreaded rot, I think I'm looking at close to a lb. Not bad for a first timer with a late start.

Well, thought I could get to my spot in between rain showers today. Didn't quite work out. 5 minutes after I got there, it started to pour. Got completely soaked by the time I made it to my car.
Luckily I was able to quickly inspect my plants before it started.
I decided a while ago, my rule for this harvest was gonna be...
First sign of rot, I cut.
Not necessarily the whole plant, but the entire bud or area of buds.
Blue Widow- I first saw just a little rot on her last week, so I cut the top off. Today I saw I tiny bit on another bud, so I just cut the whole plant. She seems very susceptible to it and would've prob cut some out every visit.
Blue Satellite 2.2- Saw a tiny bit of rot on the main cola, so I cut the whole thing down. It was pretty close to being done anyway. She was a small one anyway.
Kushage- Tiny bit on the main cola, so I cut the top off. She could have used another 2 weeks.
Rain is forecasted for the next 3 days and then a week of sun.
I'm going for broke here.

All is looking great at the patch. I just had one tiny bit of rot to cut out. All the others are untouched by it so far.
Here's some highlights from my last visit.
Ice x 2 pounder - Freebie from the bay. This is the girl I had to cut some rot from. Don't care too much though she got heavily seeded with f2's (I think). Smells nice though.
Flo - This is my favorite girl. She's not the biggest yielder but she's so pretty just lovely colors, and she's got a very distinct light floral berry smell. There's just something really special and unique about her.
Next up I have 2 East Coast Sour Diesel x Larrydog (Lemon Larry x Killer Chem)
Pheno 1 - This girl leans toward the D in all aspects
Pheno 2 - This girl leans toward the Larrydog. Very lemony.
Sage - She's very interesting. Smells foul like old shoes. Nice funk on this one.
Kushage - This is a nice lady great sweet musky stink. I cut the top cause of a little rot. Here's a lower bud...
Feminized Diesel - This was a freebie I threw in there. Smells Diesel-ish but not as strong. Certainly not bad though...
Sams Mix - Here's one female I threw in from Sam's feebie mix. This girl is absolutely enormous compared to the others. Twice the size easily. She smells like what she is... a skunk haze cross. Definitely very nice quality genes.
She's nowhere near done. I just hope she can finish before winter!
