Ashes' 14K Puppet Show

I've been thinking a bit about the reasons for posting a grow.

The stock answer is some kind of desire to give back to the community that made it possible.

Maybe some people tell the story that with a bit of luck and discipline, good things are possible.

But I think I just want to show off.

I think I want to say, "Look at this grow that I never show, and if I do things right, no one ever knows about."

So maybe that is why I started this thread, to show off a little grow all tied up with string.

Inline: No doubt you'll slay those pics...
Yah'mon: Sure:

Veg is 2K horizontal.
Flower is 2x6K bare bulb.

Lamps are whatever fire.

Ballasts are whatever fire. Magnetic.

30AMP240 dedicated to flower.

20AMP120 dedicated to accessories.

Blumat maxis in #7 solid wall nursery pots, media is coco (whatever is around).

Feed is some version of KISS... whatever is around. 3-1-4 all stages of growth.

Big Ol' twelve inchers on thermostats pulling through big ol' filters.

Garden is designed to be buffered, tolerant, and maintained in 20-30 hours per week.

Everything must hold up to 48+ hours of neglect.

Current shortcomings: Not enough internal air flow, occasionally unstable feed.

Oh yeah:

Thanks should go out to too many to mention, but the heaviest influences in this build (all for very different reasons) go out to:

DHF
mrdizzle
lazyman
sunnydog

A few others deserve a lot of thanks for their sharing of knowledge that has provided and rounded out much of the theory unrelated to this build. I'll PM them a little gratitude if and when I get the count.

Genetics are all over the place, and most likely mislabeled. The strains that remain show mostly 50/50 hybrid characteristics... all the very sativa and very indica have slowly found their way out of the garden. As for specifics, TOU might keep me from naming the labeled lineage.

Everything is run off of established cuts, so the seeds were never seen. That starts the game with a level of uncertainty. The bottom pic is from something is the foundation of the garden. Everything else that comes through the doors is held against that. Fall too far short twice, and you loose your spot.

Of close to fifteen lines worked through, the short list is down to five. It is likely to drop further.

I'd say that a lot of thought went into the build--and it's evolved--but everything right now is supposed to be as simple as funds allow. The blumats eliminated hand watering, which freed up more time for plant tending. KISS feed eliminated the complexity of diagnosing nutrient issues vs. pH issues vs environmental issues and provided a predictable garden. The nutrients may not be optimum, but manage to produces consistent high quality flowers. Plants that don't respond well loose their spot. More importantly, the system brings every plant to harvest.

The priorities in the garden are:
1. Feed.
2. Pest control.
3. Keep up with genetic maintenance (i.e. the timely cutting (and labeling) of clones).
4. Clean.

Pruning, transplanting and things of this nature all get done, but sometimes get done a couple of days early or a couple of days late, depending on the variables of life.

Every scheduled/repeated chore is based on a day of the week, rather than a specific interval. So if something isn't right--say there is a need to address mite issues--the spray cycle isn't every four days, but something like Wednesday and Sunday. Harvests happen on a Tuesday, etc.

Keep everything simple.

No flexibility to chase around 'perfection'.

Consistently 'very good' quality with no loss of plants, and no down time is the goal.

And compared to the alternatives, the results are quite nice.

Cool title for the thread, I love trees!

You should have called yourself the puppet master lol... Nice work dude. How long is veg for these bad girls?

100goz, Shhh, H^20

Thanks for the positive vibes.

These girls embody love. If I staggered in drunk, they would lay me down gently.

I'd like to say that these plants came from some kind of mysterious secret I uncovered--or better yet created--but its nothing more than deliberation, understanding limitations and working within them, and a bit of luck on the genetics.

They veg for a while. Right now, they get a bit of time in solos, then about six weeks under the big lights. But something silly invariably happens in the clone cycle. Instead of culling the unused clones, they end up getting vegged in for the next row, so sometimes the veg room is crowded and lanky. Right now, everything is where it is supposed to be (for the next two weeks). I might be raising the lights next week to induce a bit more stretch out of 'em.

Shhh, the pic that inspired then name didn't load. I'll see if I can get it up.

EDIT: Here it is, and I added it to the first post.
