Hey guys

I've got two issues, one soil, one hydro, and I'm not sure they're the same. And I'm also not sure they're different.

First:

Strain - Strawberry Diesel x Chemdawg
Medium - Dirt. Approx 60% Dr. Earth soil, 20% EWC, 20% ProMix HP, with a dash of lime.
pH of runoff - 7.3 (eek?)

Next:

Strain - Purple Mr. Nice
Medium - Hydroton in a 3.5 gallon bucket/DWC
Nutes - Technaflora full line (Boost/Grow/Sugar Daddy/Magical/B1)
pH - 5.9
PPM - 510

Any input is greatly appreciated! :thank you:

Hawaiian,
Are those brown spots/blotches/streaks caused by something rasping off the green tissue? On either side of the leaf? -granger

Whats the ph of your feeding solution for each of your plants and the runoff of each plant after watering?

Imo is the ph of your soil plants higher in the soil then in the runoff......although even 7.3 is too high ^^ (sry4bad english)
and same may apply to your hydro plants

Not typically my reaction, but do you think you could try giving them a foliar application of MgSO4 (Epsom salt, with a few drops of soap or other surfactant) at the rate of 1/4tsp per gallon clean water? It's almost looking like a magnesium issue to me, but I'm really not sure, haven't ever seen it present with white 'necrotic' looking areas.

Also looking at pH, but having never grown in hydroton I'm not sure if 5.9 is a good place to be, I've been under the impression that for that medium you want the pH a bit lower, closer to the low 5s. If it were coco, that's a sweet spot--5.9-6.0--give or take.

Thanks for your attention! I agree - the 7.3 runoff had me wincing when I saw it was that high. In my last soil grow, I never (never) checked the pH of my water/teas, .. Everything seemed to be hunky dory. I may've been a bit more precise last time with the lime addition, and last time I was using FFOF - this time, Dr. Earth.

I've been adding Epsom Salt to their drinking water lately - just the past 2 times, actually. That was my initial though too, a magnesium deficiency.

I don't think there's anything rasping off the coloration/top of the leaves, .. These plants aren't in the harm's (or my) way when it comes to getting about and working in the room..

As for the hydro pH, the 5.9 is at the higher end of what this gal seems to like. She seems a bit happier around 5.5-5.7, .. In fact, that may be the first solution to her. I'll tweak that and see how we end up.

:thank you:

Thanks all, so much! You folks and your knowledge (and willingness to share) is why this place is priceless..
