Would a rain cover help prevent bud rot?

I got rain rain and more rain in the forecast. For the next week it will rain every day. It's been raining most days for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Been spraying with greencure and so far only got a little tiny bit of rot. Cut those buds immediately. I only got a couple weeks to go. My buds are getting pretty dense though so I really want to do all I can to help prevent the plague.

I'm going to my spot tomorrow and was thinking of using some clear plastic and some tent poles or something, and just making a roof to keep'em a little dryer.

If I could make an effective roof, would this be helpful?

Or would the humidity with all the rain make it not worth the effort?

Anyone with experience please chime in if you can.

Ive thought of this as well ...as we get rain a lot in Scotland.
The only thing that puts me off is the obviousness from the air ...choppers would spot them a mile off. As for stopping Botrytis im not so sure .. the spores get blown on to the plant from another source and the dampness gives it a nice home to settle into ..so im not sure if it would work.

Got a pic of your spot?

What strains? Very important, the answer somewhat depends on this.

What are your thoughts on pulling a week early? Not the best idea I know, let them go full tilt if you can and depending on your safety.

Look at the hoophouse we built here to block rain. It was very effective. If your growing non mold resistant strains though not so great.

Sure...

This is one little plot and I have one more next to it but no recent pic.

They're small. If I can finish them out I'm looking at close to a pound.

Many different strains. It was a last minute effort.

I have a mix of a sour diesel cross, white widow, sage, kushage, Blue Satellite 2.2, flo, sams' skunk x haze, moby dick.

Here's some more pics...

Here's the surrounding area if that's helpful...

This was my first year outdoors. It was a lot of fun!

Next season I will prepare and select some good mold resistant strains. Are there any that you recommend?

I'm on the east coast so fall is really wet! Lots of people in my area have fallen to the plague. I'm pretty lucky so far. I will cut when/if I have to. If it's a week early then c'est la vid. Luckily I can check on them every other day without much issue.

Many Sativas are going to naturally be more mold resistant, however, the caveat we growers have is that no one really breeds for disease resistance. It may even be that disease resistance is directly tied to psychoactivity (less).

I don't cover my plants, but I am sure to have certain products on hand. OxiDate and JMS Stylet oil are your true friends and can be used up to the moment of harvest. OxiDate can be used post-harvest to control mold, too.

Of bigger concern to me isn't whether or not they get wet, it's keeping the buds up once they do get wet.

Well I think thats definiteley worth protecting. Ive read on these forums that the right cut of ak 47 is mold resistant.

The sour diesel cross , I dont know ive seen sour d here in Cali mold but that was near the coast, the white widow im not sure, all the other ones you mentioned (sage, kushage, Blue Satellite 2.2, flo, sams' skunk x haze, moby dick. ) may or may not but if you build that hoophouse itll probably cost you 100 bucks or so. You basically dig thin metal poles into the ground and run pvc in an upside down u shape over them and then run clear plastic over that. Strainhunter mentioned a strain called powerskunk that is a big producing and mold resistant strain. He mentioned growing it in Florida where humidity is super high, the seeds are available online too.

Like you said protect them and cut when you have to

Western Washington State is a freaking rain forest. I got a Kali Mist in the dirt since June. I put with my veggies and she's bulking nicely as the monsoon approaches. Pins and needles to pull this lady but I got give her a chance to show the full length of her lovely legs and them loverly hairs. She's putting some weight on the rack. But she's in the rain showers cloudy soup. I must resist! But Serious says November! yikes. Wonder if a water cure can help?

Haha nice avatar wilson! I found another speck of rot today and cut it out. For the most part my babes are resisting sooo nicely. Must be the greencure. I decided to go without a cover. Gonna just wait it out. Luckily I am able to check every couple days.

GL on your grow. Tak'em till they're done bro.
