Shame that you don't have 50 posts derty because you can't read private messages without

I have heard alot often that when the apprentice is ready, a guru<master shows himself

thanks for sharing all of that

I am curious about one part when you say that as a child you studied ESP, how old were you ? A child to me is very young

As for living in an ashram, one would have to leave school and work no ? In your ashram did you study yoga too ? as in stretching the body in different ways or was it just meditation ? So this is one way to get there. I am really interested in learning more. You say that the herb is good for healing, but in buddhist traditiion they abstain from any drugs, marijuana<psychedellics are a nono.

thanks for the post derty, good read. i recently found a video of a school in hawiaii called dragonsgatesanctuary the teacher has many shamanic abilities. he made a video about usingsubstances and put it quite elliquently when he said they are usfull but they are just the finger pointing at the moon.
i want to go on a simmilar path as you,i am saving to go to the wugulun school in denfang china outside of the shaolin temple to study with a GREAT chan master for 1 year, thats all i can afford cause of visas and whatnot.
indeed as a buddhist we have the similar philosiphy in taking refuge in the buddha /dharma/and the sangha (buddha/teaching/teacher)
BUT the buddha wants us to rid ourselves of all perceptions,so the dharma is only a raft wich you can use to skillfully navigate a river ,but after you cross it becomes a burden to carry it with you cause it is also perception,at that point youll know what being free/nirvana is so you may discard it cause it will be a limiting factor for youself and others eventually.
another practice thats becoming poular as i see more and more books on it and i enjoy it very much is walking meditation, yup just go on a walk be with nature and just be aware of everything walk aimlessly without rushing concentrate on your breath because it conect body and conciousness youll start to notice senses become alive with information but dont faulter just mindfully breath and absorb everything.

"many modern people have become lost in theirdaily living, always keeping themselves busy by chasing afterbasic nessesities, fame and wealth. They have forgottenthe value of chan and have lost the sensitivity to feel life .It is very difficult for them to see and understand eternity."

i want to add to my previous statment on the uses of substences. and this is what makes us and herb speacial.
the master also stated that when you take them you become the essence of the plant or mushroom ect... so for cannabis its solidarity love and togetherness, and its brought all of us here ,its trully a marricle.
its proof of reincaration (if anyone needed any)the plant and its essence lives on in us.

I was about 12 when I started to study ESP. I checked out books from the library and started doing some of the techniques. Like mind reading, visualization, communicating with spirits.
In the US one could live in the ashrams and work a job or go to school for 8 hours a day. You'd still have 8 hours to do ashram events. I worked a job during the day as a house painter at the time. Then in the evening's I would go to Satsang and do my daily service. I either worked in the kitchen helping to prepare the evening meal. Or I did guest reception. We would have small meetings in an office for newcomer's. Sometimes showing a video explaining about the courses of training. Yoga classes were offered, but it was not required, because some people were disabled and couldn't do the exercises. I took yoga our class met twice a week.
About My Dharma
For many years after receiving initiation in meditation I had quit using marijuana. Just focusing on the meditation. I had become adept at meditating in any kind of situation, whether it be driving a car. At my job as a printer, I found the noise of the printing machines very conducive to meditating giving me more of a focus with the tasks at hand. Working outside doing yard work. Or doing a walking meditation because I liked to hike a lot in the woods for exercise. On one of my walks I found a small pkg of weed about 2 grams. I took it home and about a week later I tried some after 10 years of not smoking any. I made a pipe out of a pop can and began smoking. I had some fear about doing it to begin, but after I started smoking the fear went away. There were some seeds with the little bag I found. So I started growing them in my attic.I had been reading about indoor growing on the web, and decided to try growing
indoors secretly because my wife and young son had no idea about me doing this. About 2 years previously to finding my seeds I had started a worm farm to make garden compost. My garden did really well on this compost so I started to grow my pot with it. The pot did extremely well in my attic. I could not fail with my home made soil mix. So then I bought a grow light and had even more success.
During this time we didn't have a medical marijuana law so my growing was under wraps. I only talked about it with a best bud at work. As he had just started indoor growing himself and I had given him some of my home made grow medium. My friend had really healthy plants and nice harvests with my soil as well. These early successful harvest made me want to keep growing. You know how it is once a person gets a bug for growing. They cannot stop as you have probably seen in a lot of the growers forums here on ICMAG.
Thank god for these growers, because they provide an excellent education for all by posting in these forums. :thank you:
During this time of my initial growing. I was beginning to suffer severe pain in my hands and arms with carpal tunnel. I had unbearable shooting pains at night beginning from my hands working its way up to my shoulders. It was like my hands arms were on fire with no way to turn off the pain. I had gone to a surgeon to see about getting this taken care of. He'd only do one hand at a time because one hand would be down for a month or so, and he couldn't leave a patient with no use of the hands.By doing them both. So I was discouraged because I wouldn't be able to work one handed at the print shop very well. We were super busy at work and I could'nt take any time off. Yet I had to deal with this pain. So I started to smoke more at night before bedtime, as I noticed that when I smoked there was no pain to follow and I could get a good nights rest. I continued my regime at night and all the pain went away! No soreness or pain after 4 weeks. I found as long as I kept on smoking I was cured of my pain.
This was a breakthrough for me and I realized the medical value of cannabis. Then I was just driven to continue growing for myself, and I had a desire to help others get well from this medicine. I couldn't help many at the time because it was still illegal in our state. During this time of finding wellness and being pain free. My meditations while being in the grow room allowed me to sort of communicate with my plants. From what I have read there are elemental spirits which help plants to be a successful life form. I was focusing on my plants and I felt like they were telling me about my future.'' You must keep growing these plants as it may be legal one day, and you have to be ready to help others who need this plant." This is the message I was getting along with a desire to come out and help others. So when medical cannabis became legal in our state in 2008. I started talking to patients in our area. We formed one of the first compassion groups in this state, and have been active in the community since early 2009. I have helped many patients get their gardens up and running with my clones and grow medium.:canabis:
In Conclusion This is my Dharma to help others become well with cannabis medicine. Showing them how to grow it and prepare this medicine. To re-establish a healing in our communities.
I had no idea when I started growing that this would become one purpose of my life, and I would be driven to do this to the point where it would expand with more people. All the clues started to add up though, and we started our group and now have a lot of sucessful grower/patients.
Peace

I started meditating in 1984. The first person I studied with was a shaktipat teacher (woman) from India in the kundalini yoga tradition. Ended up living at her place for almost 2 years and helped with programs, cooking, cleaning, etc. She was about my age and cool to hang with her on a day-to-day basis. I was very fortunate. Also spent some time with a different kundalini yoga teacher from India.

Then studied the 'I AM' path with an 84 American born woman who was married but celibate her entire life. She spent a lot of time in the 'inner circle' with Godfre Ray King who started the 'I AM' activity. At it's height there were around 2,000,000 members in the early to mid 40's.

Studied with Tibetan rinpoches, a full blood native Native American shaman, an American 'crazy wisdom' teacher, blah, blah. I've ended up mainly focusing on nondual teachings like those from Robert Adams, Adyashanti, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta, Ramesh Balsekar, Lakshmana Swami, etc.

Never could get into the Buddhist thing but really liked Lama Wangdor. Master Yu from China is quite a character and has had a very interesting life. Saw him do some pretty crazy stuff.

I have been on a 3 week break, due to dryness.

I meditate often with the help of cannabis, but I rarely meditate without.

I decided to go all out during this break.

Tonight after 3 weeks, it clicked!

I got "there".

"There"

How can I expalin what "There" is.

After being "There" it makes sense why some monks spends hours doing this.

Peace.

bingo.

acid showed me the mountain. but it did not help me climb it.

that's the real work that only can be done by the aspirant. dirty work and seemingly thankless sometimes... but there it is. you can find yourself among the stars (on acid) but it soon becomes blatantly apparent that you need to find your own ladder...

I went through a guided meditation back in March probably and it turned into an out-of-body experience or like, conscious lucid dreaming. Very intense and powerful experience, but I've yet to try it again. I was also completely sober at the time, about halfway through a ten week period of no toking.

Meditation is what I need to start doing.

I remember back when I was doing Yoga, I felt soooo good.

meditation is bad ass, I did it for aikido. Would turn me into a bowl of pudding. Worked for sure.

Lately I've been playing around with the idea of telekenisis...I meditate and try to get into people's heads...like friends who are miles away. It's pretty cool. I figure if I can practice for a couple years maybe someday I can look to someone and say "you're blind" and watch them scream and cover their eyes as they yell "I'm blind!!! I can't see!!!"

I wanna be Darth. No I wanna be Yoda. No, just any Jedi Knight would be cool enough. Cool beans. :)

The only instruction I had was for transcendental meditation. I practice that twice a day for 20 minutes in addition to a longer meditation. Regardless of flavor, I sit in a comfortable chair with my eyes closed.

With TM you use a mantra-- in this case, a word with no meaning to you. It's a very simple technique that produces a state of deep rest with practice. (The relaxation response is basically the same thing without the hefty price tag.) You basically relax and silently begin the mantra. No need to try to clear your mind, as that's the purpose of the mantra. The premise is the mind can only focus on one thing at a time, so repeating the mantra clears your mind. When you notice your thoughts wandering, you simply return to the mantra. Sometimes you have lots of thoughts, sometimes you don't. With practice, you'll find you have less thoughts.

When practicing TM, my experience is likened to floating. Not necessarily out of my body, but more like a feeling that I do not reside solely in my physical body.

I also like to do a longer meditation for 30-60 minutes. I don't use a mantra, but instead start by focusing on my breathing. Eventually I become still enough that I become very aware of any sounds and sensations that are present. During this process, I'm essentially the silent watcher of what I'm experiencing.

I've never meditated while medicated. I don't necessarily try to keep them separate, it's just the timing of my routine. Frankly, I experience a state of such blissful tranquility that I'm afraid the weed may interfere with it. (Of course, I simply may not have found the right weed yet.)
