If you could work anywhere in the world....

Like the title says, if you could pick anywhere in the world to work, short term or long term lets hear it and why. I think Spain would be pretty nice, I've always wanted to try New Zealand as well.

I'd like to be able to drive truck again back on the east coast, I had a route from southern VA north into NH, MA, VT & ME. I delivered high end goods, designer furniture and wine refrigerators (Eurocave's) for the Wine Enthusiast magazine, considered 'white glove' installations we got (& I was paid) top dollar for our work.

my base pay as a 'contract carrier' was $800 for a 50 hour week, all expenses paid by the boss except meals when doing local daily deliveries; if I was out on the road (w/1 or 2 helpers) overnight the boss paid for rooms & the supper meal for us. overnight trips paid better than the standard weekly wage, as the driver I got $350 per day while OTR, helpers got $200 p/d. We were based just north of NYC, a great jumping off point for traveling north or south along the coast.

it might be hard to elaborate but we delivered to the finest homes quite often right on the oceans shore, often to celebrity clients, it was a cushy job because the stuff we handled was so expensive the boss always paid & planned to have extra hands @ the ready when needed, no surprises.

Rich people are always happy when delivering their newest toys and the tips were often over the top. a clean careful installation that took 1/2 hour might get $100 tip, overcoming a difficult install successfully would usually net us $200-$300. having that driving job was like a printing press for money.......

EDIT:
BTW, I don't mind working hard for lots of hours, if I'm earning I can't be spending, I know how and where to live cheaply when out east.

Eureka, California. Never been there but in all my expatriate searches it seems awesome - nice and quiet, cool people, good bud, the ocean right there, redwoods. I've never been out west.

To be honest, anywhere but here. I would definitely move to Antarctica if I was allowed to grow.

If I could grow all the weed I wanted (and smoke it to my head) then you would probably find me on the north coast of Bali. I would either be diving, or getting ready to do another dive. BEST scuba diving I've done to date was Bali. And the people? Forget about it, none better, IMO. Just don't bring up Muslims or Japan and you'll be golden.

Diving in Guam was very good but the rest of the island...? Incredibly small and not much else going on.

Spain, i really wanna move to spain for the climate and laws

BUT i really dont wana learn spanish lol

I tried it before and for me it is too confusing.

I am italian myself and spain feels like a bastard dialect of italian

It is very similar but different at the same time

So i end up making italian phrases with spanish words

If the american federal government wasnt so psycho and if everyone wasnt carrying a gun i would wanna live in california , also for the climate and laws

That's funny, because Italian sounds so much like Spanish to me, but I live on the west coast of the US where the dialects are decidedly much more Latin American, not the Puerto Rican I grew up with.

The language that really trips me out is Greek. I hear it and it sounds so familiar, but damn if I can understand a word of it.

Have you heard of the term 'Spanglish'?

Anywhere in the world? I'd say NZ, south or north island but Spain's cool too tho. Then again I love colorado so much it would be impossible to leave forever :)

I've lived and worked in the UK and NZ and I gotta say I'm still torn between the two.

I guess anywhere can be as great or as shite as you perceive it to be.
For me the UK was fast and exciting while NZ is more slow and thought out.
The UK felt like a grown up county where everything was long established and old. Even the government. Where NZ feels more like a baby country not only in it's geography but it's political systems and commerce. This is it's disanvantage as unless your'e in a specialized feild much higher dollers and quality of living can be achieved elsewhere.

All depends on your ambitions I suppose.

For me right now. I'd like to live in amsterdam because I'd like to smoke lots of strains of bud and have sex with lots of foreign woman.
