Hi SOTF420. I'm keeping an eye on the tip burn. If it worsens at all I'll bite the bullet and give them a feeding of LK only. I only water once a week so its easy to make adjustments and monitor the results. Once I put the keeper into veg she stopped looking like a sat/indica plant and took on a very sativa appearance.

I'm back on the road again for a few days (going gold panning) so no more updates till early next week.

Here's a pic of the keeper at day F12. She's doing great, certainly not going to stretch like the two trellised plants so I think if I grow her clones out in the 2.5gal pots they'll be ok with 50 - 60 day veg. I'll know a little better in a few weeks but I think she'll be a quicker plant than the trellised ones. We'll see.

.......and this next one shows how I tied the back branch up between the two top branches. The sativas are very accommodating in this regard.

Remember the Runt? Here she is at day F26. She's healthy and all but way smaller than the trellised ones. She's starting to bud up a little and you can even see a few trichomes on a fan leaf or two. Hopefully she finishes fastest as I'm starting to dig into my last bag now. She's similar to the keeper but a little stunted on one side.

This next one is for my buddy primobud. I know you're not into defoliating, but what else can I guy do? Anyway, I went ahead and selectively defoliated to allow a little penetration to the back bud sites.

Your plants are growing so big so fast it's hard to believe nearly! Good job getting them to this point in such good shape so I think you are nearly assured a nice harvest man as long as they don't outgrow your room! :respect:

They are very classic looking tropical Cannabis Sativa plants! :good: :canabis:

Just climbing that wall man!!! How tall are they now I can't tell. Who cares what I thought, I'm changing my mind everyday looking around on here. That's starting to look like a pile of bud. Awesome

SOTF420: I've never grown anything like these plants. They really like being bent. When I bend a primary branch 90 degrees, 2 days later the branch is 3 inches longer. At the beginning of this project, I only considered the primary branches to be necessary to tie up. But some of the secondary branches are 18 inches long now so they have to be dealt with as well. Still a little tip burn going on so I reduced the feeding to 12ml/gal. The trellised plants are only taking up less than 2 liters of fluid a week each which I find quite surprising. I grew some Jack Herrer's a few years ago in the 5 gal pails and they took up over a gal per week each. Thanks for looking in, the show is just getting started.

primobud: I was just razzing ya  The big trellised plant is no taller than 34 inches and the other is a little smaller. Keep in mind though, all the primary branches are 30 inches or longer and some of the secondarys are over 18 inches. I think the best way to view the size is by sq ft of vertical canopy which in this case is close to 3 ft X 2 ft or 6 sq ft per trellis.

I believe that the max useable height for the 600hps is 4 - 4.5 ft so if the plants get any taller than that it'll be popcorn city. I think I can contain them below 4 ft for a couple more weeks (at present growth rate) but if the stretch continues beyond that, it won't contribute much more to the yield. I'm hoping the stretch will slow at about 5 weeks 12/12 or in about 8 -10 days.

4 or 5 weeks bloom is when my Haw Snow started really flowering out nicely and throwing tons of pistils so I think you may be right on target man. This might very well end up being one of the most well documented grows on the forum plus you are doing it vertical AND organic! :respect:

Now what male plants you or any buddies got laying around to toss some pollen

primobud and SOTF420: You two guys are going to swell my head with all your kind words. :thank you: The plants are really the ones doing the job and I'm just trying to accommodate their needs. I learned a long time ago not to count my buds until they're in the bag. That being said, I'm very pleased with the results so far and particularly pleased with the organic nutes. Thanks again for the advice in that regard SOTF420 my hat's off to you. :tiphat:

OK, enough of the back patting and glad slapping and back to the thread. My buddy is coming over tomorrow to pick up his two clones so I thought I'd post a pic of the 4 clones from the trellised plants. One of the girls is more aggressive than the other and its evident in both the clones and the mothers. I'm sure it'll yield better than the other one but which one will be better quality remains to be seen. I'm giving my buddy the two large ones (one of each pheno) as mine will just veg on, be recloned and tossed. I'm not in any hurry now. They're 25 days from cutting and I topped them both shortly after I shot the image. I'll try and post up a few pics of my buddy's grow whenever I get out to visit.

And finally, the keeper clones. They took a bit of a beating from my last out-of-towner. They went two nights without being ventilated and the results are evident. One died and one questionable but eight are taking up water and starting to take on a healthier green color so I've got 8 (maybe 9) to pick from for the next crop. The dome has been gone for 2 days now and with a little tlc they'll be repottable in about 10 days. Oh, they're 9 days from cutting.

I'll be watching the keeper mother very closely and prominently highlighting her progress from now on since how she behaves will determine how many plants in the next crop and what size pots will be selected and also the method of staking I'll use.

This first seed crop is fun and educational for me but after this I've gotta go for max production. So, the better I can dial things in now, it should reap benefits for the final two crops of the season.

No back slapping and glad yapping looking at that dead clone ya knob!!! F _ _ k!!! Stuff happens eh. The rest will hopefully make it though ol'pal. I got my 2nd pack of seeds and am starting them (21) tonight along with a few clones of my long flowering pheno's. 6 for 6 in the beer cups, I think me and "Grind House Seeds" may make many a primo bud. 13 in the 1st Pack and 14 in the next, gotta like that eh. Now get those clones ready for bud. The two are really taking off!!!

1st I wanna say EXCELLENT WORK Bro!!!
Cant believe im only finding this thread now. Better late then never tho
Your doin a fantastic job with those Sativa girls! Seems as tho you have
the proper patience for Sativa dom plants. Most peeps around here are
growing typical 8 week strains. Thanks for sharing your grow!!
Cheers

Hi Greenadian. Thanks for coming by and thanks for the kudos. You're definitely not too late because the shows just starting. The girls are just starting to pistil and its all new to me so I'm quite excited. These longer flowering sativas compensate by a short veg time. That being said, the next crop is gonna get about a 50 day veg so it'll be interesting. With the vertical set-up height is no longer an issue for me so the limiting factor will be illumination height.

B. Self Reliant suggested to me that he'd like to switch from a 600hps to two stacked 400's and I think its a great idea. Unfortunately for me two new ballasts and bulbs aren't an option so I'll just have to persevere.

Chime in if you have any advice as I'm always open to new ideas.
