First grow in 4'x4' 600 watt tent

d3cryption, I managed to forget about your comment. I find it surprising what you say about heri, as I've read it's one of the most potent around. Either way, I'll be excited if only the Jackberry is a keeper. Gotta love some purple buds.

I'm interested as I'm running a Herijuana cut right now as well. I was curious though as mine doesn't look like any of yours though, maybe different phenotypes? Good luck though.

I felt the same way. I have some information that may explain that. The person who gave me these seeds explained that they are the result of having one or two male plants that were either herijuana, jackberry, anesthesia, nyc diesel, or lowryder pollinate several other plants that include herijuana, jackberry, anesthesia, nycd diesel, or lowryder. There's also a bagseed in the mix. It was an outdoor grow that apparently wasn't checked on enough to separate the last males from the females. Not sure how I feel about this new info, but it should be interesting to see what kind of stuff I get.

oohhhh, that would explain things a bit. Just be sure to keep your eye out for any male autoflowers popping out when the rest are in veg.

It's up there in potency... But didn't make the cut. I was looking for dank smell, taste, good yield , looks, and potency. Around my way kush, sour, chem is all they crave. " so they claim ". It didn't have the smell many craved nor taste. High was good, noone wanted it.

jackberry on the other hand wasn't near as potent, but had the bag appeal, smell taste, and descent high. There isn't a supply or demand for purple. But when available people want it, because everything is kush, its surprises them to see nice looking deep purple buds In front of them. I'm going look for some pics of jackberry from last grow .

Also I hope noone takes it as I'm dissing heri or sann but there's people at opengrow that will tell you about the dislikes for taste and smell for the heri.... I was interested in the heri x chem d crosses.

Was actually thinking about funny jackberry from seed again along with sssdh, tahoe og, and some testers, but doesn't look like theres more funds for seeds or room. But who knows

Jackberry in Veg.. I veg this plant for 11 wks 38 in high and about 35 in wide.....

Sample bud,

harvest Took this plant 9 weeks... around 2 oz dry i believe.. smell and taste nice.....

grown in biobizz coco, 6/9 mirco/bloom, kool bloom powder..... I believe yeild could have been better. but i had gnats, and root aphids i believe...

I see what you're saying, d3cryption. People do go nuts over anything colorful. It seems it's more about bag appeal and smell when you're showing off your buds. I've read that the heri has a coffee taste, but I don't always find flavor descriptions to be on point. What some might think tastes like coffee, I might describe as tasting like dirt. In my experience, people get a bit carried away when it comes to describing weed flavors. So, that heri might not taste the best. Can't wait to see how everything turns out though. I hope to have anything looking as nice as your jackberry. That's some dark purple stuff and a nice yield even if you did have gnats and aphids.

who dat is, I'll keep an eye out. I don't any balls poppin' my ladies' cherries.

TaterMcNuggys, I've been taking out the real ugly leaves and it seems to help. No reason to have them blocking healthier leaves from getting some light. Thanks for the tip! I now realize defoliation becomes much more important as the plants get bigger.

barry, the run before that, i've found phenos darking than that one....... You will enjoy it. I tell you..... gonna sub this one... if you have any questions let me know...

I have now weeded out 3 males. I am down to just 8 females in the tent. Please take a look at the roots on a male I took out in the first couple pictures. All three males' roots looked about the same. I'm thinking the ladies are ready to move to 5 gallon. Also, please take a look at my last two pictures. Not sure what the yellowish coloration on the leaf is in the first picture, and the second one with the white leaf might have iron deficiency I'm thinking. Not really sure about either.

Okay, I'm thinking it's definitely nitrogen deficiency on all the plants since all the leaves don't have that dark green color and since leaves have fallen off the bottoms of the plants. Please correct me if wrong. Now I have to decide...do I just use more of the fertilizer I'm using (Alaska 5-1-1)? How much more per gallon? I'm at the regular tablespoon as it is.

I started freakin' when leaves yellowed and died for the 1st time on my 1st grow but it's a part of the life cycle, don't sweat it. your plants look healthy. the spotting might be alot of things but I had trouble with overwatering at 1st and it will cause problems with spotty leaves if you are keeping them too wet. they are ready to repot, grab some fabric pots if you can, just a couple of bucks more than plastic and they work really well compared to a plastic bucket. not that you can't grow awesome meds in a bucket tho if that's what you have. you might want to check out the organics for beginners thread for some great simple compost tea recipes if organics what you are after. you almost can't go wrong using any of the big nute companies programs now.
I would advise a new grower to start with a simple proven fert progam, if you can access a grow shop, because you don't have to worry about what to give them and how much. just follow their feeding chart your 1st time through and you can stop worrying about their food and get your environment sorted out. I did my 1st grow organic soil and it's great but i've had good luck with running chem ferts too.
throw up a few shots of the tent standing back a bit to show your set up, cant really tell how big they are but it might be about time to flip.... looks good !

I bet more people would help if you weren't using that 3rd party image hosting service, you can attach pictures to your post and insert the links for the pictures.

a 5-1-1 fertilizer is not ideal for flower, 1-5-5 would probably be better. Plants need less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potassium during flowering.

Thanks for the tips guys.
Chunky pigs, I'm using an LC mix and fish and seaweed for nutes as shown in organics for beginners. Here's a farther back shot.

OGmolton, I'm still in veg. If I stay in veg, do you think I should add more 5-1-1 next time? Also, I'd use their service, but I couldn't find a program to convert the file sizes down from 1.1 mb to 0.1 mbs. Is there a simple program that will let me convert the file size of my pictures? Picasa and irfanview were both giving me problems.

hey man, why don't you put up a current shot of the tent as a whole so we can see what's up a little better.
your vent system might work if it stays cold where you are but that's not an effective way to cool or promote good airflow.
what size are your fan and ducting?
ideally you want a separate small fan to cool your light with a straight shot thru the tent.
a small duct booster fan is cheap and will move enough air to keep your light cooled if you don't have any bends in the duct.
I find it easiest to mount the light in a fixed position at the level of the duct ports at the top so the airflow is good over the light. I use what ever is handy to keep the plants close to the light. when they are small I start with a card table, later I use empty buckets under each plant. I know it might sound like a pain but you will see after strech that in you have a tent filled with different genetics that it's easier to move the plants individually than to move the light.

your carbon filter and fan need a straight shot as well and as little duct as possible.
i mount mine outside the tent and vacuum the hot air out thru the roof.
this will give you room for a fan or 2 up top to circulate and blow on your girls making the stem stronger so they can support those massive cola's.

I'm guessing that your plant are past the seedling early veg stage and you need to use the guanos and liquid karma in your compost teas now or you will see your plants suffer.
from deficiencies.

EWC and molasses won't carry them until finish. if ypou have not been able to source everything in the recipe I would buy a good complete organic nute program asap. I used biobizz and gen hydro organics with great results. the recipe below works awesome as well but it took me lots of searching to find all the different items.

do you have access to growshops?

In veg i used the tea every other watering and every time in flower.

I used the recipes below but I didn't bother to filter it. it's probably a good idea to filter it if you can get some pantyhose.

Guano Tea and Kelp: This is called a Nutrient Tea.

Seedlings less than 1 month old nutrient tea mix-

Mix 1 cup earthworm castings into 5 gallons of water to make the tea. You can also just use a Handful in 1 gallon of water if your needs are less. Add 5 tsp. Black Strap Molasses. You can use a fish tank aerator with a diffuser and bubble it for 24 hours @ 70 degrees.
Use it to water your seedlings with every 2nd or 3rd watering.

Veg mix-

1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
or
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract or Acadian Kelp extract.
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 1 cup of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma or a good Humic or Fulvic acid
5 tsp. Black Strap Molasses

Use it to water with every 3rd watering.

Flowering nute tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
5 tsp. Acadian powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 2 cups of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.

To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma or a good Humic or Fulvic acid
5 tsp. Black Strap Molasses
Use it to water with EVERY watering.

I discussed the kind of feeding I'm using in my first post of the thread. I was using the molasses and earthworm castings teas when they were seedlings. I do, fortunately, have grow shop access. I'm using a 6", 409 cfm sunleaves windtunnel. After the ducting leaves the tent, I gradually bend it back 90 degrees. Temps range from 74 - 76 now and humidity at 58 - 60. I find it interesting that you move the plants rather than the lights. I'll prolly straighten out the ducting and do that too as they get bigger, but my humidity will drop too much if I do that now. I could use a fan or two inside for circulation but haven't figured out a good way to mount them. As for the guanos and liquid karma, I'd like to stick with the fish and seaweed regimen simply because that's what I have. Also, I've read it doesn't matter what you get your N-P-K from as long is it's the right amount.

I've got a few of those windtunnels and they work great. the 6" is noisy but they get quieter as they get bigger. I've run 1000w bare bulbs in my tents with a 6". they suck the sides in so much I put in horizontal supports between the tent poles about half way up. gives you more useable canopy space and I also hook a screen to it if I scrog. I have one hood setup in a 4x4 that I picked up used, but i prefer bare bulbs in the middle and lots of plants around the sides. if you get the hood, fans, filter and ducting outside the tent you can fit lots more weed inside it. not everyone has the space for that tho....

in the little time that i've been growing i find that the best thing you can give your plants is more airflow. I've zip tied and bungeed fans all over in different set ups . if it works for you in terms of security what I do is leave the door of the tent open when i'm home and have a oscillating fan outside blowing in. I mounted one of those infinite breeze fans inside the top corner of a 5 x5 but i felt it stole too much space and it was really loud.

you will love the taste of your buds from feeding them the seafood, it smells bad going in but it's sweet when you smoke it. my organic herbs really do have a far better smell and flavor than the hydro. i think the hydro has a better high for my head anyways but i can't get over how good batshit and stinky fish make your buds smell.

I have added a window fan and made my venting more linear. The result has been the insides of the tent being pulled in as you stated, Chunkypigs. It's not a problem, though. Just glad to know the air is being exchanged quickly. As you can see in the pictures, it's beginning to look alot like Dankmas - my future favorite holiday. I'm having an issue with fungus gnats and have therefore added stick bug ribbons to the tent, and perlite to the tops of the soil. I plan to buy some mosquito dunks to kill any larvae. The other problem I have is major differences in plant heights. The one sativa dominant plant in the last picture is slightly more than half the height of the rest of the plants. I'm concerned I'm gonna run out of height with the other plants, though. I think I'm in day 12 of flowering.
