Ive grown both horizontall and vertically..
I just switched back to flowering vertically.. 3.7x6.1x8, two 600s in the middle right above the canopy.. 4 rows of 3 ladies, 2 on each side, the outside rows are propped up on cinder blocks and boards aka stadium..veg for around 2 months, get the ladies to 24" then flip the lights.. 12 ladies in 5gal fabric pots. multistrain, always..

i veg horizontally right now.. and its really bothering me.. naturally the lower third of the plant sux so not only do i have to trim that, but i have to trim the backside when i flower...

id like to veg horizontally.. any ideas.. dont really have the space to veg vertically, but i guess i could..

let me know how u veg and prepare ur ladies for flower PLEASE.

I tried vegging vertically a few months ago with t5's and it wasn't as good as when I veg horizontally. I bet it can be done with good success though...my setup is just not suitable for that. Seems like I could have used twice as much space for the vert-veg...

I do NO training in veg, only during the stretch in flower. I train them into the screens (scrog) for maximum exposure to the lumens during the stretch and make adjustments as the run develops, I just did some more training today. (see Picture)

Have you tried ScrOG? Any veg sticks through the screen, poke it back under. Continue until colas form. Screen does most of the work.

Both vertical and horizontal. Running a perpertual garden with one 600w HPS and currently i have a bit overkill lighting (2x250w ESL) for vegging but it does the job with minimum space requirements. These buggers are vegging very fast. Clones going in as pairs and moving the ladder up to the final stage with a vertical light. Works like a charm.

I also like to veg horizontally better then vert. Besides I feel the plant needs light from above also when in early flower up to then when the plants are stretching. I use that final stretch and flower period in a vertical setup. After all in mid flower the branches start loosing flexibility. Bending the branches then would break them. That stretch period after the 1st day 12/12 indicates the last signs of vegetation of the plant before it is flowering 100%

If my grow takes 98 days to complete now it will be horizontal for 49 days. Doing it under 1 250 watt bulb.

Good luck deciding!

It depends what you want to do, if i need taller plants quickly i veg horizontal but if i want to keep em short and bush em out i veg vertical. It's a lot easier to handle lots of small plants under horizontal lights i find.

As per mrdizzle's advice I veg til about 18" tall under flouros horizontally and then switch it to a bare vertical 600w metal halide.

I veg horz but I remove all the branches on the back side so only branches facing the light are present during bloom.

I veg vertically in a out door green house with side light to keep over 14 hr of light
The plants seam to fall and lay flat as they grow out all the small growing tip point up . Then when they go indoors ,I point the small growing tip at the light and no trimming the backside and full canopy to start the 12&12
