Great episode, but some things seem a little bit odd to me:
1) Not sure why Walt got so panicked. Yeah, I know his family was threatened with death, but that threat was if he didn't leave Jesse alone and Gus acknowledged he couldn't move on Walt yet because he would lose Jesse's co-operation.
Sure, make your plans to get out pronto, but to see it as "a matter of hours" just doesn't seem like the right assessment. Dunno, maybe just blind panic, so rationality went out the window.
Ah, just rewatched that piece and it was either Hank or the family, so Walt's panic and the immediacy makes sense now -- he had to interfere to save Hank which means he puts the family in the firing line immediately. And Mr. Bongjangles just filled me in on that too, thanks. Hehe, I forgot about Hank.
2) Why was Ted so adamant about not paying his taxes? I just don't see how he saw jail as a preferable option. Paying his taxes wouldn't solve his other financial problems, but it would solve his send your ass to jail problem, which was a pretty immediate and big problem. The other financial stuff can be worked out some way. I think we might be missing something with Ted -- it seems like he had some angle/leverage or something we're not seeing.
Even when Ted got the visit from the "A team" he was still trying to find a way out of paying -- I would have thought at that point he would realize he had little choice and just went with it. What a great exit from the show for that character though -- there was a nice foreshadow when he tripped on that carpet a little earlier on in the episode and quickly patted it back down -- when he made the run for it and face planted after tripping again I just thought, "No way!" What was he running for? A gun? Just trying to get out of the house?
The final piece with Walt laughing was a directorial home run. Wow, the camera pulling out and seeing Walt in the hole he made for himself (literally and metaphorically) was just fantastic.
EDIT:
Mr. Bongjangles: Awesome! The Beneke face plant!
