What's new

Hey indoor growers (noob content)

Just trying to get some advice on my first indoor grow thinking about

getting this kit http://www.gtghydroponics.com/store/0-0-1717.htm

but curious if this is worth the money/ good for a starter like myself. I

have grown outdoors just never budded indoors. I know the equipment

is a little on the more expensive side but its a local shop and id like to

support them as well. Also just curious to how much i could expect to

yield with this much space/power of lighting and what would be the

best way to get the biggest yield possible? Thnanks for reading,,

looking forward to your responses while i get some hw done! :)

Your right the price is kinda high but it looks like a pretty good system . not sure on the nutes (never heard of them ) but yeah looks good .
i'd do a scrog net in there & with the right strain you can easily get half to a full lb .
eventually after you get it dialed in & a good grasp of what you can do in it . step up the wattage to 600 or 1000 .

any idea on what i should expect to harvest? and what is the best way to maximize yield (ie growing a lot of short plants or a few giants..)

Man a lot of things make a difference..veg time, genetics. nutes..the grower. It's impossible for anyone to tell you what you're going to get. I'd suggest the first thing you get is patience. Learn as much as you can..maybe you're not a nube, hell I don't know. Read, read, read here. Yeah everyone says that, but it really does make a difference. Look at different styles of growing, different nutes.. Organic or not..hydro, soil.. man it all makes a difference. Lights.. indoor, outdoor, time frame. It's just not as easy as asking how much you'll get.
Some guys here get crazy amounts of yield in cabs so small you wouldn't believe it, and with cfl's.. so you just have to do your homework..and then ask questions when you just can't find the answer by searching. There is an ass load of info here, just don't be afraid to work a little yourself.
Not bagging on you at all, we're glad to have you. Learn as much as you can and then ask for help...it's all here.

ok, so i decided to be an impulse buyer and got this http://www.gtghydroponics.com/store/0-0-1719.htm im actually setting it up as we speak and have a question, so with the kit i got 9 5 gallon grow bags...however i also have 12 3 gallon pots that i can fit in the same size area... im wondering what would be the better way to get the best yield i want to veg for 30 days bud for 30 days so i figure my plants should do just fine in 3 gallon pots yes? from everybodys experience with all other factors aside would i typically get more yield in 9 5 gallon bags or 12 3 gallon pots?

bud for 30 days? I would go ahead and count on flowering for at least 8 weeks minimum.

yep at least 8 weeks if your vegging for 30 days maybe go with the smaller bags and do a screen or something to get the most ya can out of small space

okay so my room is all set up my carbon filter and fan are all running but i have a ? when i zip my tent all up it gets really puffy like its filling up with air and im afraid its going to burst is this normal? ???? !

sounds like you have the ventilation output fan hooked up in reverse. it should suck the sides of the tent in not out.

haha totally right...told you i was new to this! i was wondering why thet fan wasnt connecting to the filter firmly when hung it kept slipping out...i was actually going to pick up some foil tape tomorrow now i dont have too! :)

The standard for indoor lighting is 50 wpsf of HID. You have less than 27. You could reduce the arrangement of pots to the lamp's sweet spot if you want but you won't get the benefit of reflection as much from the big tent. A 600 doesn't penetrate as well as a 1k so your bulb will be closer to the canopy, temp depending. This will reduce the size of coverage but you'll have better weight and quality.

This is going to sound weird but you can ditch the hood and hang the bare bulb vertically. A vertical doughnut often yields more than conventional methods. Your tent is big enough to maintenance inside and outside the ring. You could train to perfection w/o having to crawl around on the floor.

You have enough room for 1k+ should you ever decide to upgrade.

ok, so, new issue of the day...as i said i got my setup all ready to go and im waiting on my clones to root but im having an issue with my temps first what is the best temp for my growtent for optimum growth? Once i set everything up i turned everything on with just my pots in there to get an idea on temperature in the room outside my grow tent is about 70(what i usually like to keep it in my apt..) inside when i zip up the tent turn on my 600 watt hps light and my carbon filter setup i put my hygrometer set on the top of my pots (about where the stalk will be the light is about 2 and a half-3 feet above that and after a few hours of letting the light fan and filter run my temps extremely high at like 98.... so my question is what can i do about this? this is obviously going to be too high for my babys right? it is important that i can keep the tent closed for proper filtering of smells and light from escaping so leaving the tent open is not an option... thanks in advance!

Are you running a passive air intake? Are the vents open? A 600w setup is gonna put out a lot of heat, but with a proper passive air intake and exhaust you shouldn't be running that hot especially if your ambient room temp is at 70. Most people I read about here run 6 to 10 degrees above ambient temperatures with lights on.

im not sure what a passive air intake is lol all i have in the carbon filter hooked up to the inline fan blowing through ducting and out the top of the tent i can t open any vents because i cant allow any smell to get out when they start budding...

You should have passive intakes open. The negative pressure from the fan will keep any odor escaping as long as youre running a carbon filter.
