I was gifted some seeds (2), they were very large and very round. Additionally, they were tan in color, no mottleing. One germed the other didnt. It is kinda greyish green and very tall for a 7 day old baby, hopefully a girl. While talking with a friend in NorCal, he mentions the same attributes for seeds he has that he is told is MauiWaui (gifted to him, no breader mentioned). So I go looking for mauiwaui seeds, cant find them. Does anyone still produce them, that will ship to the US? Any pictures of MW seeds?

As far as I know, the Cherry Bomb (GreenGenes had them) was the only available Maui seeds recently. I doubt that those are available anymore . Nirvana offers Maui seeds, but proceed with caution. Nothing against Nirvana, but I'm just not sure if their Maui is legit.

Then there's the issue with Hawaiian strains not being completely landrace. Like many islands, their genetics likely came from some place else. I think what makes a lot of the Hawaiian stuff so good is the volcanic soil and climate; not the genetics (not to say there aren't Hawaiian genetics...just not the way people would think).

Soma uses big Skunk Hawaiian in a lot of his crosses, so there's an option. Nirvana also still offers the Maui. Almost like finding Jamaican stuff...it's hard to really nail down a pure strain. Good luck in your quest. If you're unable to find anything, I would suggest Ace seeds and their wonderful sativas.

Edit: Just saw your edit. If they're sativa, they're bound to be good. I grew out some "Hawaiian Sativa" that was nothing to write home about, but I don't know if they were actually Hawaiian. Still good herb, but nothing legendary.

Mr G's Cherry Bomb is nice stuff. He popped in a thread not too long ago and mentioned possibly doing another drop. Maybe he will, HINT HINT! His last drop got snapped up pretty quick.

Other members have made CB beans and crosses. Maybe they will also send some into the server fund.

It's very tasty stuff. Very different from most anything else currently available.

Thanks for the thoughts.. I hadent given any thought to the height of the hawiian sativas (I grow in a tent).. Igrew out GHS Hawiian Snow.. They were BIG and I cut at 130 days and they still werent finished.. Yes, no one gives the soil and climate enough credit there...

While I did pop that one seed, it was more curiosity than anything else. I also have 4 SSSDHs up and happy, that will make up the majority of the next go (middle of december).. but now that I have that baby I wanted to confirm, if at all possible, the lineage of these unusual looking seeds.

But thanks to both of you for these thoughts and information...

My .02- Nirvana's Maui Wowie is what would pollitely be called "daytime smoke". The Maui sun and soil do make a big difference, but many of the established strains in HI were brought here from southeast Asia by returning Vietnam war veterans. Lime green frosty buds with killer taste and soaring highs is what set the Hawaiian sativas apart from the rest.

Maui Waui was the first dutch hybrid i grew in my teens years .... i think it was a maui sativa crossed to skunk ... i miss so much her fresh minty taste :)

I grew nirvana's version years later ... it was a very high yielding indica dominant hybrid. The high was ok. Sorry i can not help more. Best wishes!

As much a GHS is retarded lately, their Hawaiian Snow uses half the legit Hawaiian genetics that used to be called Maui Waui. Really top shelf shit and fruity incensey plus a bit churchy too like some frankinsense or something even a bit mentholy :joint:

The Haw Snow I grew took about 10 weeks but was pollinated too which hastens maturity but definitely affects the yield although you get plenty more beans to grow more herb so that pretty much makes it worth it, ha! :canabis:

I read an article by DJ Short a while back and he said he has tried to grow many Hawaiian's indoors and outdoors in other places aside from Hawaii and he said they never come out the same.

I would love to smoke some real Hawaiian outdoor, I bet that must be some awesome herb.
