Simple and effective automatic watering?

Spring up north.

I need some sort of drip setup to where I will only have to visit once a week minimum.

I live in a dry and hot area with less than an inch of rain from spring to fall.

I wanna keep it simple but effective.

I was thinking of finding a deep pool in the creek and putting several filters in the opening so the drip emitters don't get clogged, and maybe run it 24/7 at like a half gallon per hour?

Any advice? I don't know much about irrigation.

You should check out a grow on here belonging to a member named "endur" he has a Guerilla Grow in a hot climate where he runs drippers 24/7 as well. I'm pretty sure theres a few detailed post's on his system.

There are also cheep battery operated irrigation timers at hardware stores.
You can just set them up with standard irrigation fittings... just do some calculations on your head height pressure and how many misters you can run per length of hose.

This method i would prefer over 24/7 drippers, plants seem to grow a little better when watered at dawn and dusk and soil let to dry out during the day.

One thing to note about "endur's" grow, he is on fairly steep terrain and he has terraced his raised beds to allow for good drainage.

I would defiantly not do the amount of water he is feeding to his plants on a flat spot.

What is the head height from where you can put the pipe in the stream to the spot yo have chosen and how many plants do you intend on growing?
