Eh I had a space case I bought before I started growing, cleaning it was a bitch. I also found less pleasure in rolling the fluff it produced with kind, or the draw of the J, and thats the only reason I would grind weed. Then I decided my kief should come from trim, and hey why don't I just smoke the bud trichomes when I smoke the bud. I didn't even care when someone stole the fucker.
If you wanna be slick you can go to a medical supply store and get badass high quality stainless steel surgical scissors. They also have these scissors that fold up small enough to go on your keychain... love 'em.
All you gotta do is cut as closely as you want against the grain of the budgrowth and you get your favorite texture for a J.
And hey you can then pack a bowl without inhaling a bunch / it getting sucked into the water chamber halfway thru the burn.

call me uptight, but if switching a strain the grinder gets washed or brushed out before use.. If I want flo, I want flo, not flo and BB. If I want F-13 I want F-13, not F-13 mixed with flo trichs...

You cant get a space case in a 3 or 4 piece with out the screen. I can find any.
I agree. I have used many brands and the space case surpasses all others by far. It was worth the money.
I rarely smoke joints so I rarely worry about how to "grind" it. I smoke out of a glass bowl and I just break the nug into chunks and then pack those chunks loosely into my bowl and smoke away.
Burns a lot slower that way, which means I can take more hits from each bowl and let it stretch out a little more.
I enjoy the ritual of smoking, so if I grind it to powder, it all torches up in one or two hits and then whether I'm feeling it or not, I find myself wanting to smoke more. Doing it my way helps to keep my tolerance in check. I also buy pipes with bowls that are about the size of the tip of my pinky finger, so that I won't pack more than necessary. I'd rather smoke two small bowls than one big one. It's psychologically satisfying.
Many of my friends have grinders, but I don't find them all that useful and the good ones are kinda pricey.

Not if you switch strains several times a day. It's going to mix a little. Not always a bad thing though!
Though, I get what you mean. I don't clean my grinders, but I have 3-4 of them that helps for this purpose.
my other grinder of choice besides the space case is deff the sharp stone...

My 4 piece, 3 inch Mendo is really well made. I've had it for about a year and it's holding up well.
Had my 3" SharpStone for about 5 years now. It's beat to hell but still does its job. The ring that holds the (mostly useless) little screen in the bottom got tweaked a long time ago, but I'll bet I've run pretty close to 10 pounds of herb through the little bastard. I think it's time for a new one.
Before the Sharpie I used a Conair coffee grinder which worked great, especially for bulk. During a break in growing (and serious dry spell) after a move I found it in a box and scraped enough grinder hash out of it to last me 4 days. Then I started growing again, used it to powder up some prilled dolomite a few times, and it was thus repurposed. Hmm, maybe I'll switch back...

Damn those 2 grinders posted look like junk. Round grinding blades? I have a sharp stone. It grinds up into a fine smoke. Anti makes a good point though. Your bud will smoke a lot faster.

This is my sharp stone grinder. I took out the kief screen in the middle.
i still use coffee grinder for larger amounts. and my coffee kicks ass
