NGB Ventilation Question

I'm no expert so I thought I would ask the experts here this question if you don't mind...

I have been reading over the NGB style cab and I have seen how NGB had his intake in the veg chamber, and then air flowed into the flower chamber via pvc elbows that also acted as light traps. Maybe I am wrong but this kind of seems inefficient and makes me think the air entering the flower chamber would be even warmer than ambient due to the veg lighting.

The question is do you think it would be better to just have separate intakes in the veg and flowering chamber eliminating the need for the pvc pipes? Would a single fan in the utility area be enough to vent both chambers?

Thanks for any info.

Yes the air going into the flower camber will be warmer due to the veg lighting. There are some grows that have veg and flower intakes. But why make it harder on yourself than needed. Remember we are growing weeds, K.I.S.S. One problem you mayrun into is the you will have to test your to make sure the one fan is going to pull air properly. Just like water, electricity, etc it will go the path of least resistance. So if your veg camber is less restrictive it will flow more thus causing temps to rise in the flowering camber. The PVC elbows act like light traps for the flowering you'll need on both the intake and going into the fan area, to keep the now shared area from leaking light into the grow. Plus the veg camber intakes will need them to keep stealth it that matters.

Separate ports would definitely be better. One fan would be fine as long as it's strong enough cfm wise.

If I'm not mistaken Anti built an NGB styled cab and the way he has it vented looks pretty good, both the veg and flower chambers get fresh air

Yes you can do this but why? A couple of cfl doesn't give off that much heat. You will still have to sync the flows. Unless you want to completly over do the Cfm's needed (too much air is stressful to plants, read ventilation 101. Also when when temps drop say like in the winter the veg camber will heat the flower camber while the lights off.

You can do anything you want to. These are your grows, but remember you may think your doing some thing new, but most has been tried before. If it works go with it and modify when required.

Warped,
I'm not here to argue with anyone. Lol. Sorry if it came off that way. Just want the make sure that people understand the need to check the flows to make sure it's properly setup. This way we don't see a "help cab temps all jacked up, emergency" threads pop up. Anti's cab is an awsome design. I believe that he adresses the issue of proper flow in his thread.

Keep is green and fun.

Thanks for the discussion so far. It has given me some things to think about.

Also, Just to let you guys know where I'm at winter is not much of an issue. Very mild. However, we have many days over 100 degrees in the summer.

Thanks again.
