Drying and withering one node at a time from the top down.

Ok so I'm outdoors, top dress here and there, but nothing special, just free shit i got from the grow show, she is planted in a 10 gallon hole filled with FFOF, but that was Jun 13. The dirt is pure orange clay. No nutes...h20 only.

I dont know how to explain it really, but it seems like she is dying from the top nodes down, one at a time, slowly purpling, then browning then drying and withering until it moves down to the next couple nodes....Mold? Disease? Gopher? Ive cut ahead of whatever it is, but it still comes back. Ive down exhaustive searches to no avail. Shes the only girl in the whole garden affected, and by coincidence it she is the only one of her kind.

Should I just chop her down and call it a day? Shes probably 2 weeks away from being ready.

Ik ik....pics....I cut off the affected area already. Still wanna see the cut?

Thanks.

I believe you have a case of cut worms break a dying bud open and look for a tiny brown or green worn the size of a pubic hair, they do get really large once theyve eaten must of your bud and they work from the top down.

you can pick them out i did on fifteen very large plant a couple years ago, but it was alot of work and the losses were minimal. i guess it depends on you - how much, how many, your time. how bad is the infestation. to confirm if you shake your buds over a piece of white paper and little brown black or green turds fall out, Bingo!

Sorry no the cutting you did did not get them if you have a few cut worms they're there till the plant is dead

Thanks dude, since its only that one girl ill probably just pull her early and keep her apart, is this something that affects the entire plant over time? It so weird that it dies node by node from the top down, the rest of the plant is seemingly perfect...or is there actually larvae all over it?

I top dressed at the begining of the season, no $ for food. :-/, these guys were seeds that were about a year old that I popped and took advantage of, I also have 100gal smart pots which are the focus of my nutritional supplements. There are various others in the same clay/FFOF mixture and this is the only showing this. the other just show slight N def, which is to be expected considering Im approaching late flower.

I also noticed that the fan leaves, especially those on the cola's are all reaching upward, some are purpling, but I think thats due to the cold temps Ive been having in the pm. THanks again guys.

Drainage is really good, like I said there are several others in the same ground/prep method and they look great, 8ft tall, tons of colas, healthy and happy.....I think im just gonna chop it down and cut my losses.

looks exactly right, I browsed over this section and completely ignored it, lol. So you think I should just chop the whole thing? The rest of the garden is so close to harvest I dont want to risk anything, id rather lose this one......will it affect the buds that are already on the plant? IE, lower branches that arent visibly affected yet? can they be processed and smoked? or is this unacceptable? Sorry for all the questions....and thank you

according to the section, you can either chop now or try to keep it at bay by cutting below the affected areas and treating cuts with peroxide, but if it was me i would cut the affected areas and throw away, cut and trim the rest of the plant. the unaffected bud should be fine to smoke. remember that this wilt affects a lot of the vegetables that you eat. it is not something that will make you sick, but will definitely kill the plant!

be sure to keep all debris well away from other plants and clean all items that come into contact with the affected plant thoroughly to prevent transmission to your good plants!
