How many days does your bottled Co2 last on average?

I just finished a sealed room (i think lol), its 23'x10'x8'. I've got 8k running in a 16'x8' area with a 31000 btu mini split. I am running 20 lb bottled co2 tanks (they are easier to carry) with a CHHC-4 controller set at 1200 ppm (wanted to see how long bottles will last at this setting). Right now I am getting about 5 days out of a 20 lb. tank. Plants are pretty big right now, 3.5 ft. and I am running a scrog, with the entire 16'x8' area packed with growth. Does this sound about the right amount of days I should be getting out of a 20 lb. tank in this room or should I start checking for leaks? How many days are you getting out of your tanks: post room dimensions, amount of light, and plant size.

I use to keep co2 around 1000 ppm and in my little grow (3x2x3 meters) a 5 kilos bottle last for a month or so, depending on the plants.

In a 10x5(x8 height) I'll usually get 3-1/2 - 4 weeks out of a 20lb tank using a HydroGen co2 monitor.:)

im not using it now but if i remberd right in a 8x8x8 a bottle would last me a couple of weekssometimes a lil longer. i also know the door to the room was far from air tight. i was using the chhc1

Evlme2 whats up my man?! The mini split seems to rockin steady. I've also debated on getting a Co2 generator. Right on guys, keep the info coming. I figure this can help us all gauge (me for instance) if we might have leaks in our rooms and whether or not we should go tanks or generator based on room dimensions.

Dynamitejack and Dollar, it looks like we have similar sized rooms and our bottles are lasting somewhat the same amount of time...hmmm...not bad

louie - my room is as sealed as it gets. I`ve got that spray foam in every nook and cranny. Your room must be sealed well if the tank lasts around 9 days. You`re doing good!

Over time the CO2 generator will pay for itself many times over for a room that size. Where i live, 20 # tanks are $20 and one a week (not to mention purchasing a spare so you don't have to have an off day when refilling - $150)

I let all my plants go 10 weeks so $20 x 10weeks = $200 per grow. 2 Grows and you could have a nice generator and not have to be running to the store all the time.

just my opinion. :ying:

I agree when I was running bottled co2 the small bottles would only last me 3 to 5 days then I switched to Propane I used a forklift tank that would last a month now that I have switched all my co2 to natural gas it was the best thing I ever did no more worrying about running out JACK :tiphat:

So you guys think a Co2 generator is the way to go, what brand and model are you guys using and or recommend? I've been thinking about making the switch to a generator actually. So you are saying that if a 20# bottle of CO2 lasts me around 6 days, that in the same room a regular sized propane tanks will last me about how long?

hey louie,
the propane will last just a little bit longer. foaf ran propane b4 and got maybe 5-7 days with a non-sealed ventilated room set ppm at 800-1000.thinkin 20lb propane at 1200ppm would last you maybe 7-8 days.the thing is everybody uses propane for grills, not everyone uses CO2. home improvement stores have bigger propane containers maybe 40lb or more. if you got natural gas at the spot and could hook up genny to natural gas, and picked up a natural gas genny, you would never have to fill tanks of propane. you could just pay the gas bill each month. thats the way to go if at all possible.

peace
