What's new

tracking someone via email you send them

Okay so I know you can set it up so that you get a receipt that they received your email, but what about email address and ip address? I did some Googling and it looks as if there actually are methods to get someone's ip address by sendingsomeone an email and having them open it. My only solution to this problem I can come up with is just not opening email. But I'm wondering if using an ip proxy would suffice - have it go back to them as the ip of the email recipient living in Borneo. But will it work? Internet and computers blow, its like one big record of what you do.

Bro, they can see you through the computer screen :peek:

If you can, have the email sent to a Hushmail account. Read the email in Hushmail while connected via a proxy, and even tracing images and other ip-tracing tricks should be mitigated.

Best of luck to you!

You think you have it bad, my dogs are micro-chipped in case they ever get lost.
I'm fairly sure the government are spying on me through the pups chips :)

yeah bro it's next to impossible trying to disappear these days - everything is tied to you. Like a cellphone - even if it's off, then can STILL track you.I'm really big on having a backup plan where I scoot off to Argentina or something but it seems pretty hard. All of the how to escape or how to disappear literature is pre- 9/11 and pre-digital, so it's not much help.

ignorance is bliss

if you email someone from your computer the email header and the packets that send the data out have identifying information such as your mac address and or ip and even if they are proxied it doesn't make it impossible to get that data

let alone the fact that most commercial internet companies freely give information to LEO and private citizens they can simply ask for the mail hosts records and check IP from every device you used to access it

the same goes for your the records your proxy keeps

lets hope they are in a jurisdiction where they dont need to and no governing entity has access to change that as of now

just make believable terrorist threats to them, wait to be arrested and then have your court appointed lawyer find out whatever you want to know about who's pressing charges against you. won't cost you a dime & if it's your first offense you might not even do any time.

The real answer is to just disconnect. Records are there, but to stop any more just turn off your internet. Throw away the cell phone, sell the kindle, unplug the cable and live again.

Not paranoid just fed up with the "program". It all is driven by targeted marketing, the govt is just the second beneficiary, the point is to get us to buy something. Want less and be free.

I think Stadanko hit the nail on the head. Smoke signals... old school ;)

I'm not sure how you can get utilities without giving up all your information. Unless you build a house that has solar or wind and you're not even connected to the grid. I'd like to do that. And I would also put the house in say...a parakeet's name...that way there's no way to find me. Alcoa Steel was once owned by a half-eaten breakfast.

I could get a black market satellite dish and box for a few grand that would give me cable and net...and I could just use throwaway pre-paid phones.

I want to go underground in theory but not in practice...that is, I would like to disappear from any records and databases so there's no way to find me, and live a nice life on a little plot somewhere. Shit, Whitey Bulger did it for 20 years. In a sprawling, densely populated city...in an apartment building. Just imagine if he had been living in NorCal or Oregon 10 miles from a tiny general store?

all that on $900 per month? at best you'll own a tent as you hitchhike your way across the galaxy. DON'T plan on settling in a small own and hope to remain anonymous cause it AIN'T gonna be that way.

Hide in a big city (like Whitey Bulger) you can tolerate and be one of millions; or you can try hiding in Kelliher MN population 300 and try to keep your past life a secret, NOT!!! Whenever we see a newcomer from Chicago we take bets on how long before the sheriff hauls him/her in, happens all the time up here. Folks come up here thinking they'll disappear in the woodwork but it doesn't happen that way, in fact it's exactly the opposite, they stick out like a sore thumb.

Now assuming you're not wanted for any crimes you have no worries about being 'discovered' up here, wanna play 'off the grid' games? go ahead it ain't cheap. You'll need to convert to 12 volt living, battery banks, solar panels, 2 generators (in case one breaks down) preferably propane. small LCD TV's run on 60 watts which can easily be inverted from your 12 volt power supply, charge your laptop battery off 12V too. you can buy dependable RV refrigerators to run on 12V. Your battery room will need to be well ventilated (or separated from your crib) as they constantly give off caustic toxic gases.

Cook on a Cobb brand stove w/only 6 charcoal briquettes. Buy an Eccotemp tankless water heater once you access well water which will need to be winterized. we bury our horizontal water lines 9 feet deep to avoid the hard frost freezing them, from 9' on up on the vertical lines we use heat tape and house that run in a 4 inch insulated pipe. Better get it right or you'll lose your water in the deep winter freeze & NOT be able to access the broken line until the spring thaw.

Heat in the winter? break out the chainsaw, 12lb splitting maul and two wedges, you can lose a single splitting wedge in a log but you can't lose 2 of them. you're gonna get real familiar with your inner Paul Bunyan. a winters worth of wood up here is usually about 10 cord, that would be a nicely stacked pile that's 4 feet tall, 4 feet deep and 80 feet wide, of course a single cord being 4'X4'X8'. And you'll be wanting that wood to stay high n' dry for best drying & burning so plan on covering it well.

ahhhhhhh the easy life.......
