what is this?

This is only on the lower fan leaves. The buds and bud leaves are very healthy . I put alot (and I mean ALOT) of diatomecious earth and waterered it in . Since DE is plankton, could this be too much salt? could that be causing these yellow stripes? They are very uniform and yellow between the veins of the leaves. This particular plant is in an outdoor location with no other plants within 200 yards so I don't have to pull it to save the others. What should I do?:help:albumid=32465&pictureid=751059&thumb=1[/img]

hard to say. Measured ph? Is it ok? Otherwise I would underline what you are saying bout salts.

as long as it dont affect new plants the problem isnt that big. Just dont overfeed(cause it definetly doesnt look like underfeed IMO)

It looks like a few things.

deficiencies:

Iron (Fe) A vital element for the production of chlorophyll. The admission of phosphates comes to a stand still. Usually happens in the 3-4th week of flowering if your soil is not buffered or the ph of your feed is off causing nutrient lock out so the buds kind of slow down and take longer to finish. It needs those phosphates.

or

Magnesium (Mg) An essential element for photosynthesis and playing a prominent role in the metabolism.
The symtoms pale chlorosis spots on the leaves which turn rust color. This can be fixed by feeding them a solution of water and epsom salts. Just water till they look better.

it really comes down to the ph usually then it locks out and deficiences start. Dolmite lime top dressed or in the soil usually helps.

Good luck dude !

Ive got the same problem going on one month old plants right now that are in veg. Ive given them a dose of epsom salts but I think the real problem was a light solution of fish crap from a salt water tank. Even though it was very diluted it seems to have hit them the wrong way. Ive flushed and re-potted since then but am still losing lower fan leaves that look like those in the pics the OP posted. New growth is healthy. Growth doesnt seem to be as fast as it should be though. Ive never had lock out with this soil mix and the fish crap was the only thing that Ive never put on my plants before, so Im thinking it is a salt or nute burn issue.

Lil what strain is that? Is that the only plant at that loc? Looks like it is in flower..I was taught that as buds grow 'drainer' leaves get drained of N that was stored in them...

Maybe Im wrong ! But lemme explain my thoughts to this ....

we have mobile and immobile nutrients. NPK are the mobile ones the rest is immobile.
That means NPK is used everywhere to any time in the plant the rest is only needed to produce healthy new leafs.
So when we get something like the threadstarter that is obviously not a NPK defiency it has to be a ph related problem OR some pest.

I'll gladly accept other people's solutions/suggestions that'll proof me wrong!

When the Ph is off balance then the deficieny will show since the plant cant uptake the nutrients it needs. So ph balance is in direct relation with the plants metabolism and NPK uptake.

Yah, it's pretty normal for lower fans to get like that mid to late flower, as long as the bud areas are healthy it's nothing to worry about.

I top dressed my plants with about a teaspoon each of pelletized lime . Worked it well into the soil and gave them a good watering. Now after a few waterings the plants have responded well and no longer display the problem discussed. Growth rate and overall plant health has also improved phenomenally .
