thats cool that the plants are still there. to the guy saying it was stealing to take a cola or bud from plants found in the "woods", weed grows everywhere on the planet unassisted just about. just because i see some plants in the woods don't mean someone necessarily planted them there, could just be natural weed that grows out of the ground. taking a whole plant someone planted, all of them. thats stealing, a motherfucker taking a bud or 2 off a plant and then leaving all the rest behind. thats called the price of doing business. be glad they weren't there to take your crop.

This strain finishes very fast. Done by Sept. 28 at the latest, probably by the 21st. Definitely not animals. These were cut with snips or scissors. Clean cuts & healed right over.
Guns don't work for me. This is a small crop-not commercial-strictly head stash. Smells real nice too.

That's what I'm telling myself, anyway. To someone who didn't know when they were planted, they would look done. 50% red/brown hairs, and buds fat. Pretty nasty spot. Mosquitoes alone would discourage most, not to mention the swamp.

unless they smoked the samples and decided to come back in a month, then they're prolly some random dudes like me who stumbled across some free weed in a forest and rather than be assholes and take it all they just took some samples in case someone did plant them there on purpose.
The guy on the dirt bike saw me walking away from the spot with a gallon jug and a bag of diatomaceous earth. He knew "someone" planted them there.

How far were the plants were from where he saw you? Did you see his eyes look towards the plant? How old was he? Fingers still crossed. The 21st is it..
setting a booby trap is a felony in CA, im sure most other states as well. If LEO stumbles across it and dies, you will be charged with a homi.
I think they probably took a cola or two to see if you noticed. They wanna see how often you come there, if you only come every few weeks chances are they ride that area more often than you show up.

Had the same last year... Noticed someone took a "sample" of some branches off one of me trees...
...decided I better harvest some but really wanted to wait for proper ripeness on the rest...
10 days later (Sept 26), the whole crop was stolen in the middle of the night.
Don't make the same mistake waiting it out. Harvest early!

Why were you carrying a jug out in the open on a visit, and why didn't you get into some cover when you heard the bikes?

well the fact they didn't come back the next day or the same better prepared to take it down is a plus for they just took a sample and left scenario.
there are good people left
regardless the wait would be nerve racking if you decided to wait it out!!
imo, if they knew what was what and they were going to steal it they would have been back **very quick** to take it.
personally I would have chopped it or if at all possible moved it
(been there dun that once) knowing human nature.
AND
human nature is just that and most of the time its true to form and screws you!
I mean if you found a wallet and no ID,
and its stuffed with crisp 100s.....
people can convince themselves very easy to take it,
Ive lost crops and I've run up on them.

the only thing I can offer for others+your future grows is some advice from what i learned when
I was growing in the field in the 70-80s
pick your spot carerfully!
you had to have a boat to get to my spots, be willing to walk chest deep across a moccasin creek or you had to hike a few miles minimum through moccasin/rattlesnake infested areas.
I used 5miX5mile airial photos of my spot so I knew how close the nearest road was, and if i had to run from leo or whatever on a moments notice I knew where I was going and where i would eventully be.
take all your supplies out to the site with you when you plant if possible
or within the next few visits...period!
running everytrip with growing supplies is asking to be spotted as a grower and if you lose you patch....cest la'vie
my rule of thumb, if someone can talk a walk and run across your patch...
its gone...like a wallet left on a table in the food court at the mall.
I used a boat to get to my patch but I had 3 routes by foot that were not your casual stroll, one down a stream bed full of moccasins.
I used the boat to take the heavy stuff in at night...ferts and everthing needed to 8put em in the ground including the month old seedlngs
and once more for harvest......sometimes.
then if I went by water again it was in a small inflatable raft, i even went by surfboard a few times but alligators were a threat...
when i left my truck it was where usually no one could easily find it and i left a note on the windshield saying i was out of gas to whom ever and was walking back to get gas...etc etc
once last thing, I was always on the lookout for trash, a wrapper, a cigarette butt..a peice of gum that was spit out,
I knew my spots were clean, if i saw anything i knew my spot was compromised
goodluck and i hope your harvest comes through for you!

next year don't walk around in the woods with grow supplies or the roads or.....
there are good people left

if it was mine-i would cut all colas down-put them in a bottle with water-a bit nutrients in-bring them to another place and let them going for 2-3 weeks more..i do so with maleplants.They living as they was in soil-if you buying flowers-they also just standing in water for 1-2 weeks and they are flowring finish..all those with traps-no no..your are going out in the nature-there everyone has right to be-it can not be right-other people should be hurt because of some plants or animals-it could be a kid who is playing,a dog i out for running..if us grower doing so-we all put us in bad light-in the end,

As someone inexperienced, let me ask, what do you do if you find your spot was compromised? Assuming the intruders were in process and if they took your weed and were gone, what happens?
I would love to hear stories about the moccasin adventures in greater detail, but you might agree that choosing more and more difficult locations depends on the goal and objectives of the party planting. Now 'bout those snakes......
