hey thanks for the bit of info you shared with the aerial reconnaissance =)

my tiny back yard is something i'm trying to learn to camoflauge better, you've given me some ideas with the fencing covered with vines, planting some grass and whatnot

Hey Yes-man...It's great to get a perspective as to what the fly-boys see and cant see from the air. Props to ya brother...You went above and beyond...literally! CC

read about your cat problem in big tree thread. your canopy is way to big to hand pick tiny cats and remove their miniscule eggs, not enough hours in the day. for strains that have 3-4 weeks left you can get away with one application of spinosad. for everything else start spraying the whole canopy with bt every 6 days til 1-2 weeks out. this is their season and they are relentless. hope this helps.

EDIT: i forgot to say its not the cat that lay the eggs, its the moths, butterflies that drop the eggs.

Well, we have been getting hit pretty tough by insects and catepillars. the cats are confined to the SFV OG only, which is kind of weird, maybe the mother moths like the smell better? they are small cats that are a brown and green color, none of the cats are larger than an inch but they are still doing damage, lost at least a couple OZ of colas on the OG kush which is pissing me off.....

the LVPK is the only plant that is somewhat clean of insects. The LA Con are pretty healthy too. insects have hit the cherry pie tough, there are insects all over everything, they actually outnumber the spider mites...i could care less about mites right now! i see alot of small beetles and flies, spiders that are eating those flies...

We even found baby mice inside 2 of the smartpots....

Overall im dissapointed with many things, mostly the shit yeild that some of the cherry pie is producing. 2 of our cherry pies are very healthy and producing some decent sized nugs...but the other 3 are total failures....droopy leaves, lots of burnt fans falling off, tiny colas....just overal fuckery.

the only positive is the LVPK right now....my SFV OG is nice frosty lemony but the cats are hitting her hard. the LA Con looks healthy and smells great but the plants didnt stretch at all theres barely any yield....200 gallons of soil to only produce 1 lb is a shit yield.....many many things need to be improved upon next year.

picture.php

you can see one of the skimpy cherrys on the left here....what a shit yield!!
picture.php

two LA cons in the front....barely even reach halfway to the top of the trellis, only like 3 feet tall...midget plants = shit yield
picture.php

my 2 favorite plants LVPK and SFV...still pretty bad yield il be happy to pull 2 lbs each..
picture.php

LVPK has the best green color of all the plants hands down....no fan leaf stress at all, unlike the cherry and SFV which are all turning bright green and dropping leaves..
picture.php

my healthiest cherry pie...with the skimpy one in background. i dont get it...same mother for these clones...same sunlight...same nutes...same soil....

some pics of the SFV colas...nice frost and smell but damn the size of each cola is puny compared to the LVPK....she usually gets bigger colas when i run her indoors...

sorry if there are any PETA people here.....we threw those baby mice into the brush where a rattlesnake will make dinner of them.....we have already found 1 rattlesnake in this grow by the way.....it was hiding under the deck of the trailer, lucky my dog didnt get near it...

Hey yes-man...keep your chin up fellow gro-bro. It's a process no doubt. It may take several seasons to weed out the non-performers. Take it one problem at a time. Next year, a more aggressive bug control program would be at the top of my list cause now that theyre there, theyll be there every year. On the other hand, the strain selection takes patience and season to season evaluation...Hang in there bro...CC

the cats do seem to like some more than others, some swear strain selection is the key in cat prevention. although a more proactive approach to combat them will suit you well in the future, without limiting yourself to strains that hold up well to cats. they are my main concern. and i never forget to spray. chances are high that even though they like the og they are all over the whole canopy. azamax as a preventible for the mites and others work well too.

obviously utilizing all 200 gallons of your pot from the onset would have helped a lot along with using a proven recipe like toms instead of feeding liquid nutes.

to really get the most out of that size pot it needs plenty of space. maybe next year you can give them more room. and to be totally honest with you. its a lot easier to bring home a large full season plant if you had at least 2 times more soil...

cannido hit it on the head with strain selection. every year is a great learning experience, spring is just around the corner!

Yesprop. Even though your grow hasn't gone 100% the way you'd hoped it still looks great. For your first year outdoors you killed it as far as I'm concerned.
My first successful outdoor grow was 2 plants guerrilla style from bagseed and I probably pulled less than 3 ounces. I was 15,felt like the best smoke in the world at the time.

Point is think of what you can do next year with everything you've learned this year.

K+ homey. That LVPK looks killer.

Prop it still looks good and I wouldn't be too down in the dumps either. You always blow it out the water on your indoor runs. This is good trial and error for future outdoor plots. No matter what the breeder pack says not all plants do well outdoors. Maybe some of these cali guys will lead you in the right direction as far as what performs well outdoors in your area. Good luck heading towards the finish line.

thanks for the kind words yall.....yea definately ALOT of learning experiance to be had here! im also learning alot about farming in general since i also worked in a vineyard this year....next year preventive maintenance for the insects will be the biggest focus, and we will narrow strain selection down on the commercial side....

im running a few plants in 5 gallons for the headstash....really surprised with the Blackberry, i grew her indoors and shes nice and frosty, early finish, but nothing special. but outdoors shes really shinin, making me wish i put some of her into the 200s instead of the cherry....

Your grow is better than my wild dreams yes4prop. I can see you guys in Calif really set the bar high for yourselves. The quantity vs expenses that you will split with your partner should still be pretty high. Not many grape or wheat farmers can say the same. Just learn and grow, but don't grow too big. Those that get too big have worse problems than bugs. And sorry to hear about those. There has to be a way to deal with them, like lady bugs or praying mantis or something. You are a smart guy. I am sure you will iron it all out. Enjoy every day man, summer is great.

yea i dumped a shitload of lady bugs in there 2 weeks ago.....im wondering if maybe some of the little beetles im seeing are baby lady bugs instead....i notice there are a TON of predator insects on my plants....dozens of different species of spiders, praying mantis, bees, wasps, beetles, you name it...

next year its gonna be weekly baths in veg....and we are taking cuts way earlier...shit i have a bunch of clones in beercups at my indoor grow that i might use for next year lol...

lady bug larvae look nothing like a beetle. they look like an alien and eat several times more than an adult lady bug.

hey yesprop, love the grow man! forgive me for not reading to in depth, but what are you dissapointed about? those plants look green and mean to me. thats a cool description about what the piggies can and cant see from the air, great info. you say your nieghbors have 40-50 plants? thats ridiculous.. is that over limit or something since your runnin ten to twenty..? so are those people with 40-50 plants growing 1#+ plants? thats a lot of ganj.. i think this grow is great dude, the only thing i can suggest for bigger potential is more light. how many hours of direct are you getting? looks like a nice little crib ya got, kind of what i picture myself in when i get started.. keep it up bro:)

most of the 40-50 plant grows look to be in 200 gals as well..but their yields are pushing 3-5 LBs.....im dissapointed because most of our 200 gals will only yield 2 #s if we are lucky...some of them like the LA con will only produce 1#.....next year we also have to focus on our vegstarts better, and better strain selection....and possibly use supp lighting. we get around 10 hours of direct light here...
