The OP said that he saw the guy on the motorcycle one day, and he noticed the singe cola was missing a full two weeks later. They had a chance during that time period to come back and clear him out, but they didn't. I'm not sure what i would do in the same situation, but it seems to me that they just wanted to take a little and leave the rest alone.

They might just be smart enough to realize they need more time.

i have stumbled upon grows before, and i just left a note on a stick stuck in the ground informing them that their spot had been compromised, that i wasn't the police, but that if i stumbled upon it the spot wasn't all that hard to find for others...

and if you really were that hard up for buds, taking colas instead of popcorns is an asshole move for reals.

@OP: I know 4 different people who were hit this week alone by rippers... none were guarding there plants. I've been up all night every night for about 3 weeks already, and last night I chased off the first prowler of the year. Seems to me we as growers have 2 options... 1, guard our shit and end up with a harvest or 2, sleep sound at night and more than likely end up ripped.

Hope things work out for you, next year I hope you can figure a way to grow closer and more secure.

WOW Mates...Crazy..Well it happened to me...8 seasons ago..I thought I had a "sweet little spot" This was Before I got my own land way out in the sticks.. Anyway I paid lots of bucks for 20 clones,I was newbie in my eyes. so I'm sure I broke all kinds of "Grower Rules" From where I was growing at to "This IS BIG...Who I told"...Friends/Girlfriend/Birds/Cats...you get it. So I do the all summer hauling of water,that whole thing...So fall comes & I can't wait to harvest.I was new in the game.I went to check back in early Oct.I saw deer tracks & Poo..Some of the colas were "it looked like they were chewed off???so I talked myself into thinking the deer got them.. I wanted to wait 2 more weeks...I came back 2 days before halloween & to my surprise all of the buds were gone....As I looked closely and saw "cut marks" on the plant..so i got pissed & nervous at the same time. I got out fast an low..Got back home in town with nothing to show for 5 months...Slowly "The kill" started to show in my small town.. Most of the mates know each other,so when one of the Mates came upon a large amount of harvest eyes & ears perked up...Long story short, An ex of mine talked to much...They saw my truck while putting up deer stands... they know I don't hunt & went back and searched.... keep the circle small....need to know basis only... SORRY Mate...

O.K. Update on the saga.
I went back yesterday. On the drive up, I was thinking "no way they will still be there", but hope springs eternal. Anyway, when I got to the spot, there they were, untouched from three weeks ago. They have had three weeks to come back and take them all, but didn't. They still weren't finished...have another ten days to two weeks to go. So I sat there thinking for awhile...take them early, or take a chance. I decided to take a chance and let them finish. I know some will think that crazy, and I will be kicking myself if they get pulled before I can get back, but I just had a vibe that they took what they wanted, and if they wanted more, they had plenty of time to go back, but didn't. Maybe I'll regret it, but that's what I did. This place is really well hidden, behind a big strand of trees and it's pretty swampy. No one's going to be walking in that area. Mosquitoes were unreal. I saw some the size of wasps. When this guy saw me, it was a one in a million shot, because he was on a dirt bike. As I was leaving the area, I saw a truck pulled over at the side of the road,, maybe a mile and a half away and I looked over. Saw two guys maybe 50 yards into the brush, bent over and tending to something on the ground. Can't help but think that they were also checking/harvesting their grow, because what else would they be doing there? I won't be going back to check. I wouldn't take their stuff if I did see it, because I know what goes into it. It's a lot of work.
Hopefully the guys who first clipped some of my bud think the same way.

very considerate rippers you have out there! honestly its pretty fucked up they stole from you in the first place, but its not like they could have asked and they didnt pull a dick move like taking all your plants. personally i would harvest, and leave the 1 plant they already stole some off of with a note saying thanks for not stealing all the plants.

Rippers would not worry about three more weeks. Blind greed is their way. If they are still there when you go back then it was probably just kids on a family vacation the got themselves some smoke. If it is gone then they took a sample and then went back for a truck and trash bags. When looking for a new spot. Get GPS readings from the spots and then use google earth to check the ares out. You can see trails and such much better. I use it to find spots with. I always take my shotgun with me to my patches. Not necessarily for protection but to use hunting as my reason for being out there. As long as you are not carrying game they usually send you home with a out of season warning. But it is still better to pay a fine than lose a whole crop.

I am very happy for you that your hard work continues. These may be dumb, do most of the kids know what a plant looks like, when it is close to finish, drying and curing etc.? One thought is it possible that some animal ate the colas and that the plants were not found? That would be nice if it's the case. I'll be following this thread. Keep us posted.

I don't know where you live but most outdoor people I know are harvesting in November. Any earlier than that and they are harvesting hay. I know some people that are part of a large coop that harvest around Halloween (American Holiday late October) and they have a ton of hay. I will not even smoke it.

^ That applies to you, not everyone. It depends on what strain your growing and where your at. Some of my friends have already harvested some plants that are early finisher's (not auto's) But to the OP, I think your pretty crazy for not taking them but I hope everything works out for you.
