The only reason I sometimes hit the helpful post button is because I have already recently given the person rep points and it is the only way to let them know I agree :)
Just my 2 cents :thank you:

I got some cool reps from this thread too, thank you all :respect:
Really brightened up the page, and the smile on my face.

I don't know if it shows up that way or just as one, but I've often repped the poster first then immediately rep the post. It doesn't work by repping the post first, though.

Holy shit...you sent me a pm a while back that validates that comment...lol

If I posted it up, you'd laugh your ass off...for real.

Takes much to make me scratch my head :tiphat:

i am lazy and constantly stoned . if you get a message theres a big chance it is confusing ramblings. forget about any pictures or colored lettering. i barely find my way to ic.

I usually give full reps, rarely will I use the 'Helpful Post' system by itself. If I really liked the post I'll give it a rep 1st & then use the Helpful post system as well.......

Well, I am awfully late to this thread, but I had to reply...
I concur Brother Bear; I too much prefer the "scales" to the "helpful message" option; but I do use it occasionally.

Secondly:
Paladin, MIway, Rasputin: you guys are too good to me!: Thank you!!
I can't begin to tell you how many times I have received a rep (or visitor's) message that made my day, lifted my spirits, or made me giggle uncontrollably!
I love that I have the opportunity to make other people feel good, loved and encouraged, even if I'm only successful one out of every thousand times. (Though I do hope for better odds!)
It was kinda cool though, when the rep. system was first set up and they were still anonymous...
I really liked the idea of sending a "secret admirer" message...A sincerely altruistic act.

In~Plain~Site's rep. messages never fail to make me giggle...
*whispers:* In fact, it's a good thing rep. messages are "private"; people might start to think he was a big softie! ;)

...But, I do loathe seeing: "You have given out to much rep in the last 24 hours, try again later."
And while I do like the idea of 'spreading the love around', I feel disappointed when I can't send it to who I want, when I want!!
*insert crabby faced smiley here*

Anyway, I simply adore you guys! :) Nearly all of my favorite IC'ers are here!! :cathug:
Have a fantastic and restful weekend, my friends! :joint:

what a positive thread brother....thanks!
not to be negative.....but I don't understand why you get limited on giving rep...you're not limited on receiving rep. If I read an extremely helpful thread and tons of folks add to it and throw good data around and beautiful bud shots around....it's like I'm standing in the middle with a huge bag of moonpies and I'm trying to throw everyone their own moonpie! I'm talking about a HUGE bag of moonpies here people. You know what I mean.

If I get a helpful rating, no message........I usually pause for a second just to focus on the fart that happens every time I get one.

Or a seal arp.

Here's how I view "Helpful Post": When I click on Yes, I am showing all future readers of the thread that the post resonated with someone.

Shoot, I thought I was doing a good thing... it's sad to think that someone could make something bad out of it! That really bums me out.

I like to write rep messages too, and sometimes I do both... but I've always put the priority on the "Yes" vote.

As for myself, I will remain grateful for ALL positive input.

I'm gonna go smoke a bowl now, try to regain my cheerfulness...I'm getting more pissed off the longer I think about this thread.
