whether you water or just let them dry out, will it influence bud size?..weight.

Dont know if it effects the weigh or bud size but if they are well watered before harvest it will take longer to dry and the smoke may be smoother due to the longer dry times? Just kinda makes sense since if you dry fast it tends to be a harsher smoke.

 This is how i do it. Not super wet, but damp to be sure.

No watering on the last two or three days before chopping and if possible 24 to 36 hrs of pitch dark and full venting on, is what goes around mine.
Mostly because i don´t want to have to dispose of heavy and moist soil.
But the slower the drying process the smoother the smoke so i guess the ideal answer lies in this fact ;) I am just plain lazy i guess

not really ANYTHING will add weight on the very LAST week!

the cannabis plant enters a stage known as senescence during the last few weeks before ripening, basically it's a fancy word that means the plant is slowly shutting down and dying. photosynthesis is greatly reduced, almost no nutrients are taken in, water uptake is much lower as well. you will not see any difference if you water during the last week, even to the point that the fan leaves wilt the day or two before harvesting. most of it will still be in the pot when you harvest if you do and your buds will likely take a bit longer to dry as apposed to product from a plant whose soil was allowed to dry out a few days before harvest...

personally i recommend letting the soil dry out completely by the day of harvest, obviously this means if you grow in coco you still need to water till almost the day of, because that medium dries so fast, with my big soil grow beds, it can take weeks to fully dry(they never do in my setup), so i usually flush with a lot of water 3 weeks before and let them slowly dry till harvest, and though most of the soil will be dry 3 weeks later, there is always a damp spot left, though beds are totally different than pots and can't really be compared in this sense.

letting the pots dry out has it's advantages, whereas i don't really see any advantages to watering right up to the day. for instance, powdery mildew can be a major problem with many strains, and during their last few weeks when the buds are at their densest and ripest they are the most vulnerable to mold. by cutting back on watering you lower the humidity quite a bit, which will combat PM.
also, it has been said that buds finished in a more arid environment may have more resin glands, though i have never seen proof of this, i know a lot of people swear by it.

water may no do anything bad during the last week but it can't really do anything good either, as all the weight is already on the buds, they are just ripening at that point.
