Not smoking out plastic like that the fumes wouldn't be worth it. Had over 3,000 dollars worth of glass confiscated, all I have now is a little chillum I made.

Will be getting one of these when I deem myself financially stable enough to get one:

http://aqualabtechnologies.com/scie...ic-bubblers/b-wilson-clear-6-arm-bubbler.html

We have one of these little beauties for our daily dabbing! If you get the chance to pick up one of these bubblers we highly recommend it!
The smoothest hitting bubbler we've owned.

I have to agree that a clear piece wouldn't be under that category, unless it was very unique.

There are clear pillars that go for 1kish.

Problem is the pieces are based on a lot of factors, most of which is taxes, but the way it functions is key.

I hope you're not talking to me about that "comback," because that's not at all what I said. I've had people say "Don't spend all your money on glass buy bud," that's the only reason I said it. Angry much? Relax Chief.

Sorry, this mass produced stuff is not art.

Now, if it were some badass unique handcrafted glass art piece that you could smoke out of, that I could understand laying change down for. If it made a statement, evoked emotion, expressed movement in static... shit pay even more.

But otherwise, its just the same as buying any brand to impress ya bros. Hence the a&f comparison. I understand, when I was a kid I just had to get some Air Jordans... then it was Doc Martins... But hey, a shoe is a shoe, a boot is a boot...

The funny thing is the comebacks. "You must not have the money, you must spend all your money on weed." LOL what are you 12 at a junior high lunch table tryin to make fun of the poor kids! fucking hilarious

I really don't like glass "art". I don't care for worked pieces at all 99% of the time.

That being said, the science glass revolution is a huge deal. One of the biggest in our culture in a long time.

Are they worth $1000s of dollars? No. Not in my opinion. But for a few hundred dollars (or hell even $100 these days) you can get a very functional percolator bong.

Like somebody mentioned Tommy Chong bongs and Roors and stuff. That doesn't count. Art doesn't make glass smoke smoother. Percolators do.

Unless you've ripped a double diffused piece you don't know what you are talking about because you haven't tried science glass. I was skeptical too. I thought spending more than about $60 on something you smoke weed out of was ridiculous. But they work so well that if you smoke enough they are worth it. I broke my $200 dollar inline and I'm going to replace it with something even nicer.

Even my mom who has been smoking since 1967 bought a beaker bong with a tree perc after trying mine.

Its like this. Imagine a bathtub of warm water. You take ten gallons of water and freeze it. Use 5 gallons for ice cubes. Use the other half for brick sized ice. Which one is going to melt faster? Obviously all the tiny ice cubes because more surface area is coming into contact with warm water. The larger blocks of ice are going to stay frozen longer.

Well the same is true of diffusion. The hot smoke is broken down by diffusers into tiny bubbles. The cold water cools the smoke very rapidly. The larger the bubbles, the hotter the smoke.

Old JBD's, chong glass, etc. Doesn't mean anything. The new glass is light years ahead in functionality due to dramatically improved designs that eliminate drag, and increase diffusion. It allows for significantly softer and smoother hits.

All bongs are not created equal. This is not the 90s anymore.

Diffusion really doesn't mean anything unless you smoke. Percs diffuse out the smoke, and the water soluable stuff. More diffusion will filter out more of the water soluable stuff. When you vape buds/oils you don't need diffusion, you just want a coo rip. Water pieces also give you much bigger rips than normal pieces, usually because of design.

Also your comment
Unless you've ripped a double diffused piece you don't know what you are talking about because you haven't tried science glass.

really means nothing because like I said before adding perculation is going to increase drag and filtration.

I've only bought single perc pieces and I will only.

Also each piece hits differently and such so the money you spend isn't always for "art" but for function. Comparing a 50$ china gas station piece, to something that's 300$ is a joke, we all know what's going to hit better.

Price doesn't always effect form/function though.

Diffused makes me feel like I have half a lung of air. Diffused is smoother though.

The "airy" feel usually has to do with how big your piece is. If there is more room for air to come in and form the "airier" it will be. My Kut rig flies because it's soo tiny and smooth.

I know what you mean, no two pieces hit the same. But diffused is different than conventional. I bought a diffused down stem and ground the diffused part off (about the bottom 1/2" of stem). I'm just a old glug fan. At a certain point it's overkill but for me, the more water the better and no diffuser.

The first piece I ever saw diffused was in the '70s. It was a square plastic bubbler called Space Bong. Since that first hit, I've never been a fan of diffs.

I'd be willing to consider that fact I haven't tried double diffused. I enjoyed double chamber bongs back in the old days. I realize they're not the same thing.

Anybody remember the Apogee bong? You hold it one way to hit the toke and the chamber fills. Inverting the position feeds the smoke like a gravity bong. I think this action alone got the bong outlawed but it's sold today by another vender. Can't remember what it's called but I'd like to try it. The bummer if any, looks like thin acrylic.

There is a re-creation called the Xpogee -

One shop may have them, but it is not currently listed in stock. I see comments elsewhere about them being sold in head shops up till around 2009, so even the re-creation may be out of production.

Found this cool old-school ad for the original though, had to share :D

been cleaning em 35 years.

Thanks, Mr. Bo. Wow, check out that add. The III is $30.00. :biglaugh: Those were the days.

My second favorite was US Bongs. Even the great big, multi chamber ones were $75 or less.

I remember the apogee style from college. The fucker we had used to blow the cherry on the floor after each hit.
I still have my acrylic graphix with the felt covered soup can base.
I also have lots of glass parts lol.

Coolest pipe I ever saw in college was the Fan Can from George's Cheap Joint near UNC. It looked like a springy snake can but it had a bowl on top and mouthpiece on the side. Inside was a fan and a 9v battery. Press the button for auto shotgun.

I was at a party with ~300 peeps and everybody wanted to pack the fan can. But nobody really smoked it, they just waved it in the air to fill the room with smoke. Fuckin Oldwell Apts! I pity the fools that try to get away with the shit we did back then. Cops musta been on extended doughnut breaks.
