I've been given a 5' x 10' tent by a mate and I'm thinking of going vertical in it.

Wanna try a stadium as I'm lazy and can't be assed to make racks, or a hydro system lol... So, I'm planning on sticking some shelves on top of each other with those breeze block/ grey bricks I see in many stadiums supporting the shelves.

Not quite sure whether to run 5 shelves per side + 5 on back wall (15 total) SOG stylee with 144 plants in 1 gal pots, or just pop some beans veg those for 6+ weeks and flip em.

I got a couple moms that would need 4 weeks veg to get the 144 clones needed off them then another 3-4 weeks rooting and veg time before bloom....Hmmmm.....

I'll be using 4 x 600w (dual stacked) in a 6.5' x 5' space. Lights will be flipped so each only runs 6 hours in bloom/ only 1200w running at once. So top left light and bottom right on then visa versa, hope that makes sense. Still in planning phase although all equipment except for silencers are on deck.

Any ideas about setting up a stadium in a tent or ideas for a better vert set up in a tent are welcome... Got a few weeks to get all planned and sorted, but need to decide on the SOG vs bushes as this will dictate whether I need to pop any beans or not

I so want your tent bro. I cant wait to get the space for a bigger tent. Im a newb but it seems like a good idea to me. Have you ever thought about growing some trees? It just seems a bit easier to me. That time you spend making clones can be used for veg. Seems like you dont want to do a bunch of construction. Cant say I blame you on that. How many strains will you be running?

With that many clones and that much light in a 5x10 tent, i think you'd be more likely to hit a killer yield with a flat sog.

Just been searching for vertical tent grows and seen yours mate how did you find temps with the 2 x 600's in that space?

I'm thinking the same thing about time spent making clones being used for veg, but tree's would be a bitch in that space and I'd ideally like some weed for xmas :joint: May have to go for less plants with a 5 week veg, but I'm very eager to see what can be done with SOG and flipped vert lighting. Decisions, decisions :D

I have cheese, cheese x nl, Greenhouse chemdog and Super silver haze all growing as moms. For a SOG I'd go monocrop with cheese x nl but that would mean a loooooong ass veg for the clones needed to do that.

Missed your post there zor,

That's a fair point you have there mate and was my original plan using a 6'x6' tent as the shape is better for the lights being flipped. In the new tent I was planning to use 6.5' of the 10' of length instead of the whole floor space as the flip lighting (6hrs on/6hrs off) works best in a checkerboard pattern than a light one after the other pattern.

Cheers for the post though u given me something to think about

aint nuttin to it but to do it bro. Sounds to me like you have a good plan. Make sure those lamps are stacked right on top of each other... or even stagger them. That's what I did when I did a similar grow. I made it so that the lamps were 1' apart stacked side by side, and the bottoms of the 2nd&4th lamps were at the middle of the 1st&3rd lamps.

I busted 1gpw this way... and then I tore it down and went with coliseums. Still dialing that in. lol

Anyway, yeah stack your shelves up on cinder blocks. Lots of guys do it. you just have to hack off the backs of your plants and train them away from the shelf above them. I know you said you're lazy, but I suggest painting the shelves with mildew resistant paint... Or buy treated wood, or metal shelves... something that's not going to absorb water.

I'm waiting for pics... :smokey:

I started out using shelves like you're planning, but with bigger plants and stacked lights I found it easier to just put the second (back) level of plants on individual buckets. So, potted plants on top of overturned empty buckets create the second level.
The shelving works great for smaller plants, but eventually got in my way and was too restrictive......plant size and numbers around the lights should be the deciding factors, I'd say.

What's good bobble... the staggered idea was something I was thinking too and now u say u broke gpw doing this u got me thinking about it some mo'... seems a better distribution of light would be had like this, but was worried about possible hot spot in the middle. Probably have to toy around a bit to see what works best lighting position wise.

Btw, I didn't mean that lazy!! I can throw a bit of paint on some timber :D I'll definitely be going with something like the cinder blocks though... Then try not to knock the whole thing over, lol...

No pics yet as there's nothing set up just my spare bedroom... I have a few bits of kit to go in that I have pics of I will try get later but expect nothing of note for a few weeks minimum. I'll also need a bit of advice on getting things quiet in there, plan on boxing fans acoustic ducting and silencers like uncle LL does to keep thing nice n silent.

Yo mega, no pics yet bro... still drawing up the blueprints :D

Sup dramamine,

Sounds like a nice simple solution! I need at least 3 levels though, as u point out I'd run min 40 to get a decent result and chance @ gpw+ territory considering the veg time of 5 weeks max. I have used buckets/ pots before to hold stuff secured with that super strong velcro it works a treat and doesn't budge once weight is on.

Keep the idea's flowing guys need the input!

Well the temps were not a problem at all. Every once in awhile it would hit 84f but that was due to the outrageously hot days here in the south. Other than that the temps were 78-81f I have a big exhaust fan and plenty of air movement in the tent. Im going to get a bigger tent and double everything on my second run.:dance013:

Damn tent doesn't fit in the room, nor does my 6' x 6'.... Only size I can get in there is a 8 x 4 and another 4 x 4!! Got some thinking and thread trawling to do now as my plans for a while now have been based around a 6.5 x 5' stadium...

What a fu@*!n pita, just moved here btw and forgot just how awkwardly shaped the spare room is.

why not make it easier on your self and do a 8 plant scrog? i just ran 9 3 foot plants in my 4x8 no scrog had horribly high temps and pulled close to 2 pounds of delicious nuggys and i only had to feed with a 5 gal twice a week 2 liters to each plant every 3-4 days at half strength tho if you feed twice a week to make up the full weeks nutes... not tryin to knock you but it seems like you want easier theres my 2 cents
