No Pest Strips 1 week into flower?

So My plants are 8 days into flower. There are nothing more than a few hairs emerging from nodes/pistils. I literally mean 2-4 hairs at most.

I have never had anything more than a few fungus gnats in my room before. I just discovered I have the beginning stages of a spider mite problem. There are no webs present. They have just started to crawl to the main stem. I noticed them when adjusting container level. Little red and white(babies I'd assume) fuckers crawling up the sides of my containers. I removed the worst two plants. Now they have spread to all plants in the room.

I know it is said to not be used on flowering plants. There are really no flowers on my plants yet. Even, after a NPS application of 5-7 days I should still be able to thoroughly shower my plants in water to wash the chemicals off without fear of budrot.

I tried pyrethrins and it did nothing.

Am I screwed as far as this run goes? Should I just bomb, cut down, remove, and start over?

If I am able to use the NPS and continue this session, how do I go about continuing to care for my garden while the NPS are in action? Watering/fertilizing etc. Can I go into the room for short periods of time to conduct business. There will be no people or pets in this room, the room is dedicated to gardening only. However, while the room is pretty well sealed I'm sure there are some small crevices in the caulk, dry wall, etc. Will any small amount leaking out be a problem? There will be no one occupying the same level the room is on. Only go to that floor to shower. Also I have a 30 lbs dog that is 9 years old. Again he wont be anywhere near the room, but I worry about it coming up through the floor into the living area if there are any leaks.

Please someone help me, I've never had to deal with this issue before and I want to end it before it gets out of control. In the future i will take preventative measures instead of reactionary measures. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

what one never realizes and its pretty horrible, hot shot pest strips are not to be used in places where you or any living life will be frequently, they are meant for places that arent visited often. i feel really bad for the people damaging themselves everyday using those in their grow rooms or anywhere near them period, just because they failed to read the warnings.

not to sound like a jack ass but you really should read the directions, those things are hazardous to human life and should never be used for growing thats for sure, yet i see so many recommend them yet they forget to read the directions and warnings on the package, the vapor they release is very dangerous to living things if in contact with it from time to time. i can imagine if they went to such great lengths to put such a hefty warning on them for human life in general it cant be good for plant life either.

it shocks me every time i hear people actually use those inside their homes, it says on the package not to use in any living space... it cant be any more direct than that.

"Place in attics, garages, storage lockers, sheds, basements, crawl spaces and closets to keep them pest free
Use only in areas where people will not be present for an extended period of time. That are unoccupied for more than 4 months immediately following placement of pest strip"

if your having a spider mite infestation dont fuck around with cheap products get Azamax quick. there really isnt too many other products like Azamax that are completely safe for plants humans and everything else in your soil if you use it correctly. it can be used as a soil drench and i think is by far the most key feature of this product, it will not harm roots and can be used to drench your medium regularly until the infection ceases.. so its perfect for prevention of any medium really not just soil.

dont screw around and regret not getting Azamax. i havent had a huge issue with pests ever since ive bought it, spider mites get eradicated completely. the fact its %100 vegetable based, safe on roots, can be used as a soil drench where literally almost all critters start from, can be used up until day of harvest and doesnt release a highly toxic vapor dangerous to living life.... why bother with anything else.

Make sure to wear your seat belt, drive the speed limit, stay off the cell phone... Don't drink diet soda or eat hotdogs... Limit alcohol and wear a condom !!

Life is full of hazards... I don't live in my grow or inhale nps directly. But I drink a fair amount and ride bareback here and there !!

Peace homies

thats far from the point, it really is. completely unnecessary if you ask me to even say that. regardless of all the hazards we already live in why add more when you dont need to.

whether you arent breathing it or not, it specifically says do not use in living areas such as your home, maybe if your fortunate enough to have a grow room other than your home thats one thing but i highly doubt you dont check your grow room in 4 month intervals. thats not just hazardous its dangerous when you have a time limit like that telling you to stay away from it.

azamax works wonders for spidermites anyway and is a hell of lot safer than NPS, so why even buy them. its much more effective in my opinion.

im not telling you not to live life, why that was even brought up is beyond me, im just saying you shouldnt be using those, be hard headed all you want but ive killed enough brain cells in my lifetime i think ill spare the rest on things that are worth it not pesticides made by Hot Shot.

ok i really dont even understand these comments, thats like me saying i let my 4 year old smoke tobacco all day.

she isnt dead yet.. im sure i could feed my plant light dosages of Tanqueray, how gangster would that be im sure it wouldnt die immediately either..

so ridiculous. ill use azamax. have a blast with your pest strips. im just trying to recommend a much safer product and one thats way more effective especially if your soil itself is the problem and has become severely infected.

i never said NPS strips are going to kill you but they arent worth using or even safe to use, regardless of how little harm they have caused you currently why even use them knowing that. when there are other options..

if my car came with a warning "do not drive into a solid brick wall" i guess ill say fuck that warning and hit the wall head on right??? cause i live life to the fullest fuck warnings!... i dont understand you alls logic, sure be my guest and test the wall. warnings are there for a reason for safety not to restrict your life of what you consider fun... i really dont understand why everyone posting in this thread is taking such offense, not my fault you could care less about inhaling pesticide vapor but i do, i inhale enough shit i dont want to on the daily basis gasoline being one, i gotta fuel my damn car up to drive so i cant avoid that... at least you can avoid buying a pest strip.

and no i cant ride a fucking bike too god damn far id be late to work everyday.

Ok homie not trying to argue really ... What we have here is another consumer product with warnings on the label, this is a common occurrence and care should be taken.

I'm glad azamax works for you ... I'll try it in the future !!

Stay peacin homies

thanks cravenmore, no hard feelings.

thats all im saying is exactly what you just said, its a warning there for a reason and should be taken into consideration especially if you can avoid the hazard altogether.

If you have, 'Little red and white(babies I'd assume) fuckers crawling up the sides of my containers', they aren't spider mites. Either way, hopefully the NPS will kill them.

I'm pretty sure they are spider mites. The adults are red and somewhat rounded. The smaller ones, who are very small, are still like little white specks. Plus, I found a small web under the lip of one of my squarepots. I could not tell if there was activity in it. The web I saw could possibly just be the web of an innocent house spider. However, it seems a little too coincidental considering the recent invasion of the mites.

I'm familiar with springtails, and cannot seem to keep them out of my soil. They dont seem to hurt anything so I dont fret over them. Even the springtail babies will jump when you go to smoosh them. The ones currently looking to infest just stand pat.

Anyway I went and picked up some azamax and will try to use that first. Anyone have any tips on application? The fellow at the store said I should expect some yellowing, but not to worry, vigorous growth will resume and there is NOT a deficiency.

I read the sticky, and now realize how contentious of an issue these NPS are. I did not meant to stir any shit. If the azamax fails me, then I'll scrap the grow. Then I will proceed to bomb the grow area and scrub with a bleach solution. Then I'll start new seeds and perform preventative applications of neem.

Thank you for the help all.

Red Reign you are correct I do not have spider mites. I have root aphids. After doing some research on root aphids I was able to determine that the "fungus gnats" I thought I had are actually winged root aphids.

Fucking horrible! I've only ever had fungus gnats before, several years ago. Gnatrol took them out swiftly. I know I'm in for quite a battle against these root aphids.

I will likely scrap the current grow. However, if anyone has any tips of how to sterilize my room I would really, really apppreciate it. Such as: How to properly chop plants and dismantle root balls to avoid contamination into the room itself, what should I sterilize with on room floors, walls, ceilings, reflectors(?).

I am currently reading the official thread on these things at the top of the page, I'm on about page 20 right now. Positive rep for all help provided on this subject.

Thanks guys.

NPS work great in veg and earl into.flower. i grew in my uninhabited garage so i had one in my flower tent and one in my veg closet. They effectivly wiped out all the little fuckers within a weel and then I just pull them out and threw away. I have used allmost every product and for the money this shot does really work and fast.
