My ghetto hand made carbon scrubber!

This my Ghetto carbon scrubber. I posted these here hoping for some imput to help me get it working correctly.
I added a rheostat to allow for a changeable speed. The intake has a y'ed 4 inch pipe on it. (it was what I had so it was free) In the first pic that is what it looks like all put together. I am going to move the carbon filter to the exhaust side. On the intake side I will make it a particle filter for debris in the air.

This is what it looks like with the intake off. I am just going to add the particulate filter to the intake and move the activated carbon to the exhaust side. I posted this in hopes of getting any ideas. Like thirty people read it and looked at it and there was not one clarifying question or remark. I ain't saying nothing negative about anyone, sometimes words can not describe or help in some cases. Im sure everyone looked at it and laughed/wondered if I was trollin' them. I will post fotos of my finished project.

Also, the wiring is just temp. I will have it wired in to a switch in the wall and powered correctly.

You've spent thousands of dollars on your gear and now your tring to save a nickel by going cheap on odor control. Something doesn't compute here, homie.

Sell one of the quantums, the CO2 monitor, or generator, the auto fire extingiusher or countless other things and get some real odor control.

Well, that's a bit harsh, but I do agree with the last 5 words: Get some real odor control. If this just a 'fuckaround' project, cool. Go for it. It'd be fun to watch. But don't trust your freedom to home made.

Best of luck.

Mine too Douche. I use a 5gal pail stole the idea from smilley check it out on his "Hawian Snow" thread pretty simple. I recharge every crop but I could go almost two 4-5mts.
Then again I just had a quick look at your other thread and I can see the point of #'s 1 & 2. Looks like a pretty cool set up, I'll be watching. Thanks for the welcome back!

Home made and dangerous are not synonymous. Just do your homework and realize that it may take more maintenance as few DIYers build to overkill specs.

I will say the typical "hosiery on the outside" (left) allows for carbon leakage. Use window screen inside the unit (right) to lock the carbon in.

I will not be selling part of what I have for a scrubber. I will make one and it will work. I am sorry that it does not compute for you bro. I will re-do the math and see if that will help you. now that I have seen the DIY for the scrubbers I have a pretty good Idea of what to do.

I am not sure if you have read my other posts but I had everything set to be bought as I needed it. The carbon scrubber and Nutes were the last 2 things. I lost my job one week before the purchase order went through. So I stopped that and paid the bills....I have a week or 3 before the odor will start escaping the sealed room. I should have it under control before then.

Thanks for checking it out, if you have any positive or nice things to say come on back later on.

Yeah, he may have been a bit harsh, bless his heart he is trying to help. Everything I do is hypothetical. Just in case I decide to take it real I am fully legal in the state I live in. Odor control is without a doubt on my to do list. Right near the top of it as a matter of fact.

LOL, 2 cents. This is my new plan. I am going to tape socks of carbon to my kids mouth. I will then put them in the room and have them breath in though there nose and out through there mouth. Do you think this will scrub the air clean enough?

ooooohhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I have three screen doors so this should be easy to handle. Thanks for the vote of confidence and guidance!

Brevity, especially on the web, may seem rude (we won't even start on humor) but, honest, Sarge is just trying to be a helpful guy.

Now hand me the ukelele and we'll all sing Cumbaya.

Hey bro, I got this today. You are right. Odor control is everything.

Edit:
In all fairness I got very lucky this morning. I got a call from a friend and they had changed all the fan's on something and wanted me to come dispose of these. I was gonna scrap it all but Now I am going to save 4 of the electric and 4 fan's. This filter is going to be awesome.

You should immediately remove the rheostat, and never again attach one to an AC powered motor if you do not wish to start a fire.

The only proper way to control non shaded pole motor if with a variable frequency drive, which isn't worth it for a fan this small.

When the motor turns slower because of decreased current, each winding is energized for a longer period of time than it was designed to be, building up heat, which will eventually lead to failure and/or fire.

Yes sir, I did not know this and I thank you for the advie.

I knew about this method however I did not know that it was expensive or the only correct way to do it.

You are a god among men and a gentleman. I will take your advice and never again use rheostat for anything other than a light. Thanks again for the advice.
