Timmy has had 'off nights' since he tweaked that oblique/groin 2-3 starts ago.

He's hurt and not saying anything.

Anyone know the last time the defending champs didnt make the playoffs the following year?

I feel like it actually wasnt that long ago but had trouble finding anything.

How Giants feel today:

attachment.php

Brian Wilson after losing to AZ, wishing he wasn't on the DL.

attachment.php

Pablo Sandoval wishing he hadn't struck out.

What they see in their nightmares:

attachment.php

Ian Kennedy thrashing SF for win #18 this year.

attachment.php

Paul Goldschmidt crushing a Lincecum pitch to the deepest part of ATT Park.

attachment.php

Daniel Hudson thrashing SF for win #15 this year.

Giants get a chance for revenge with their final 3 game series against the Dbacks at Chase Field at the end of the month.

Hats off to the Diamondbacks. They were by far the better team this week. I wish our hitting would show up more often (Giants) but that is baseball. I don't think the Giants are done just yet, but that was a huge blow. If the Diamondbacks do take the west I hope you guys represent the west, take down the big boys along the way.

BTW - Mr and Mrs Babba: Could that snake that you guys had in your house be a horrible premonition to how poorly the Giants would soon play against the Arizona Diamondbacks? Crazy stuff you guys,:).

Hats off to you, sir, for your excellent attitude!

Not done yet, but if they can't sweep Padres, I think that will show that their spirit is broken and they are through.

I gotta start watching some Phillies and Brewers games, Atlanta too (wildcard). I think it can be done.

Wow! Giants give a demonstration of what it is to have heart and determination. I'm impressed. No broken spirit for them. Bumgarner and Sandoval both incredible, but Bumgarner was especially big-league. Good for them.

Diamondacks, on the other hand were less than stellar. They won, 10-7, but it ended up pretty ugly. Rockies scored 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth off one of our relievers. Had me worried. We also left a lot of guys on base. If we had played the way we did at SF it would have been like 16-0. Definitely not playoff level playing.

go Yankees.......

Robinson Cano swats his third grand slam in less than 30 days leading the redsox by 2.5 games. we celebrated a new hero today as well:

Jesus Montero reached across the plate and sent a 93 mph pitch about a dozen rows deep into the right-field seats for his first major league home run, a tiebreaking solo shot in the fifth. A Labor Day crowd of 45,069 at Yankee Stadium coaxed him out for a curtain call.

Two innings later, he leaned for a 94 mph pitch on the outside corner and drove it 10 rows into those same right-field seats, a little bit more toward the foul line. He had another opposite-field homer, a two-run shot. Curtain call No. 2 followed.

''I was dreaming of that before,'' Montero said Monday after boosting the Yankees over the Baltimore Orioles 11-10. ''I was always telling myself before, 'One day, I'm going to be that guy.'''

giants 7 games back and playing the diamond backs 3 more games? that's lotta season left to go.

phillies reached 90 wins faster then any team in history, now thats saying something
I doubt that, in '98 the Yankees were 90 & 30 on August 16th, that's considerably better than Phillies 90 & 48 record today. of course I could be wrong if you're talking about them reaching 90 in a different yr.

not braggin' it up but like to back my words so here's the link (Wiki) to the Yankees '98 ~ 114 win season.....

In their history ;)

Still impressive, as well as Cliff Lee being named NL player of the month for the second time this season (June/August)
5-0 in the month of August with an ERA of 0.45 and a scoreless streak of almost 30 innings, that's just insane.

How about this kid Worley? The movement on his fastball last night was nasty as hell, 11-1 on the season and he's a 4th or 5th in the rotation.

worley was even good when he made 2 spot starts for us in 2010. hes been great i dont care if fat joe ever comes back.

by the way i definitely feel its time for a phillies pitcher to hit someone. our players have been getting hit all year and the braves hit polanco on his bad elbow 2 nights ago then they hit utley in the head. someone needs to step up and retaliate.
