The most discreet and easy way of drying

Yeah Greenmango's technique looks best, but you do have to have a fair bit of room to do it. Just do what's best for your space/security :)

You know it's funny you should ask this lol I do hate when they over dry or even push the drying process .. I mean why go to all this trouble to fuck up the last part lol.. I get the impatients but just wait lol.. Anyways it obviously depends on how big you are and how much you have I do like those large mesh racks but not the price but Ikea has some $6.99 ones that are just as good and get a fan and your golden. Obviously the less you handle the bud the better peace out Headband707

You are right prop215, trimming wet and on to racks is what I meant.. I should have made that clear.

I see a lot of rack dried stuff that has sort of a slightly fermented smell from the sap, they also cause flat spots on bigger buds.
If you dry till the outside is crispy and then onto racks I suppose that would eliminate the problems.

This is how you do it properly.

Yeah I love this but you really need the room and nice ventilation going here but yeah this is really the best way to go... but again roooooom!!!! lol.. peace out Headband707

Why dont you guys just use the mesh to hold the stems? Thats what i do so I can hang everything. If need be, I can even hang buds on the outside. Gives a lot of hanging space....

yea the OP says he has space and discreet issues......if you are looking at 4-5 LBS the racks might not be the best way ive never tried drying that much on racks..only a few LBs at a time and never had a problem...

honestly if all your lights are done running just dry in the grow room then....hand them upside down from the ceiling for the first few days..leave your carbon filter running but turn off the other fans too much airflow crisps them up quick...

you could also water cure them. They won't smell much while they are under water and after that you need only dry them like 24 hours - they will smell different by that time anyway. Its quick and easy )

Here in BC you can't turn off the fan as we live in a rain forest so we already have high humidity so I leave the fans on for a few dayz to dry things out . I suppose a lot of this info will depend on where you live peace out Headband707:)

Well you guys may call my crazy but after talking to some what of a mentor of mine (he is several years older and has been growing cannabis much longer and more succsefully than me and has taught me very much) I found out that him and his Dad have moved in with the grandparents.

Now usually my friend could just process and dry his shit at his dads place, which he did every year. Now that him and his pop are with the grandparents, theres no way that it can go down. So he is going to do what he said his friend does every year and go buy a really big (8 person or up) camping tent.

He said don't go buy some cheap fucking tent thats gonna leak on you go purchase a nice durable tent thats relatively easy to put up and more importantly take down. His only cost him 300 bucks and its a very nice 10 person tent and the setup is instant, all you do is push a button and it pops open, taking it down is very easy aswell. He pitches the tent right at the spot and inside the tent he hangs many of those drying racks from the ceiling, ( the tent has rings at the top meant for attaching to carabeners to secure camping tools and shit, he uses this to hang the racks from)

he also purchases battery powered tent fans that can hang from the roof and some are equipped with small L.E.D lights. He does this all on chop day and gets to work trimming everything inside the tent and putting it on the racks to dry. He sleeps in the tent untill everything is dry which gives him plenty of trimming time. The tent has many screen openings obviously which he opens unless its raining to get more airflow and he ofcourse hangs a tarp over the tent not only for extra rain protecting but to keep the plants in the darkness because we all know sunshines no good.

He says he needs to change all the fans batterys pretty often but there small D battery powered so bring a shit load is inexpensive and not difficult to bring with me and the things are actually pretty powerful...I really think this shits could work well I mean its obviously not ideal but its all I got right now and I have been reading on other forums of people doing this....tell me what you guys think

And I do appreciate all the comments everyone has left but you guys gotta remember this is an outdoor GG and my moms has been cool with me putting a few plants in the closet in past years but I know this much weight is gonna fucking STINK and i just can't do it to her it will stress her out to death and she'll keep thinking were all going to jail.

that tent idea sounds like it would work. are you handy build a drying box in your garage. enough in depth to hold a hanger hang as many buds as ya can fit on a hanger. with multiple height bars for hangers you could fit quiet a bit on not to big of a space. some vent holes for intake small extraction fan that can be hooked to small scrubber. in the bottom you can put little racks for screens. just an idea. Ive been kicking around different ideas on the inside design of the box but the idea is still the same basic concept best of luck in finding a solution that works well for ya. p,s stay away from the attic idea ya had depending on were ya live way to hot dry it to fast and ya luck if it doesnt taste or smell similar to hay.

Everybody keeps telling him to hang it in his flowering room, but it sounds like his flowering "room" doesn't have walls or a ceiling. And his light source isn't on a timer and can't be unplugged from the wall. (He's growing outdoors, folks. It's in the first post and several subsequent posts.)

OP - If you have $300 to blow on a 10 person camping tent, why not blow that same 300 on a fan/scrubber combo and dry your shit indoors?

yeah you know what your right anti fuck the camping tent idea I dont wanna have to sleep in the fucking thing and no way would I leave it unattended in the bush I am way to paranoid for that. For some reason I just didn't think of building a box with a scrubber. I've never grown indoors so I have no experience buidling them and the thought just didn't occur to me, I'm gonna get on building this thing I have seen many DIY carbon scrubber threads just never read em, thanks for the advice I don't know what I'd do without this board sometimes

thats what were here for bro hope it works out if ya dont feel like making one the size youd need would be fairly cheap in the big picture if things. best of luck bro.

How about freeze drying it? It would take about 30+ days, but it would not stink up the house and would leave you the option of drying small amounts the normal way. Try searching freezer cure.

Theres a DIY drying box somewhere on these boards.

Rubbermaid + pc fans + carbon filter. The dude said he could dry 2 lbs in a rubbermaid.

Alot better then spending 300+ on a tent and sleeping in it for 7-10 days...

I'll reiterate my fondness for using a grow tent (see my post above).

A GL80 with a small fan and filter will cost a bit more than a camping tent, and might not hold quite as much, but it will still hold a good amount (probably all of your harvest in a GL80 even if you hit 5# dry) and the tent/fan/filter can get stuffed inside a bedroom closet .. or in a garage ... or wherever.

I just had 14 plants hanging in my GL60, 20 some oz dry. Room to spare. 9 days until jar.

Next month I'll probably need more space, so I'll be adding another GL60 and pulling through a Y to scrub. Nice, easy expansion.. and the two still fit inside a bedroom closet.

But .. you do have a bit of a tough situation so use whatever you think will work best for you. (on that note, maybe a lil tent is good, once it's in the house perhaps you can convince mum to let you run a little indoor in the off season. a 400w can go in a GL80 and pump out a lb every 2 months nicely)

Last thought, Rubbermaids are nice usually in your type of situation, but it sounds like you have a bit much to be fitting in Rubbermaids, as you'd need a stack of them.
