i'm thinking of converting my veg room to LED's. i want to run 3 200 watt units to cover a 9 x 3 area. i'm currently looking at hydrogrowled's penetrator 126x pro (link below). i know there is a lot of drama surrounding this company and to be honest don't know the whole story, but i've seen good results on this board from people using her older lights. i'm thinking the technology can only be getting better so i may jump on this pre order. someone talk me in or out of this please! thx

What are you running in there now?

What current problems or potential gains have you wanting to switch?

i'm running a 600w mh right now with a 200 watt t5 when needed. i really just want to try and get rid of a portable ac im using and cool just through ventilation. i have a good intake and exhaust setup for the area. the portable ac sux and is a huge inefficient waste. i figured led's would allow me to just use the ventilation and take the ac out. btw, i got your pm, thx for the tips.

For one run I had 2 >300w LED units in a 5x5 tent. When the tent was completely closed up it still heated it up a bit too much. Having a dedicated fan to pull air out of the top and allow the tent air to exchange with the room air was enough to keep things good. In the summer I still had to run A/C. In the dead of winter I had to heat the room. I wish there were some solid ratings available on how much heat is put out by various lighting sources. LEDs are not heat-free, but certainly put out the lowest amount of heat per watt of any lighting that I've used.

If you could run a closed loop on the MH, like having outside air run through the hood then directly back out of the room again, that may solve a lot of your heat problem. I'm a big fan of closed loop for traditional (HPS and MH) lighting. My room is in a transitional period right now in terms of how it's set up and I don't have any exhaust anymore and it's really taxing my A/C.

Look through my albums and check out eshinesystems.com these are the Chinese who make the lights. My opinion after buying one... stay away, far away.

Hi cjk,

i have posted in your other thread, but see that here is the better place. I am in the same boat with you. I think there is no one atm to tell you call or fold on those lights, since no one has one of those lights yet. I have ordered one for myself to see the truth and are waiting atm for it to be shipped. If you see Mountain Monkeys statement, then there can only be one conclusion. Dont buy those lights from China!
If you buy the Penetrator then buy from the source you have mentioned, even when they are build in China, but they are build to their specifications. And this might make the difference. But i dont know, only guess.
Good luck with your decision.

Peace

thx green fool. i think you're on the right track because most people that have used hgl have shown power meter photos of their penetrators pulling advertised wattage. please come back when you have your light and post pics and test the pull if you can.

Actually an IC'er bought 2 of these lights from china and is very happy with them but that's him not me. He also has HGL gear and says they are doing the job really well. I wouldn't buy from the chinese again but I wouldn't buy from the co tha sell the 357's either. Had plenty of other good transactions with maple leaf tatooed people so I can't say not to buy Canadian but at the end of the day these Chinese are trying to make asmuch money as possible so make it clear you know your shit, tell them you have owned LEDs that haven't pulled what they have stated they would and if you buy anything from them then, they will most likely do the righty. I made the mistake of trusting I'd get a 378 when the 126 is cosmetically indistinguishable and some sneaky bugger thought "here's an extra $5 for me come the end of the month!" and pulled a switcheroo. Have to say I would much prefer that light but fully powered, correct specs than this 357. The Chinese light was heavy as shit but that said quality to me not -just- heavy. Added to that was the fact it was whisper quiet. It was decked out with 2 BIG fans on the back and it made so little noise I was quite taken aback and even checcked to see if ther was a fan broken. I doubt it would have been up there with the high grade American made panels but I'm sur it would be better than this thing I'm stuck with. The name says it all. if it's draw is 180W then why call it a 357? its all just marketing, smoke and mirrors...

The regular Penetrators use 1w LEDs. The Penetrator Pros use 3w LEDs. Some of the side by side test grows on their website will show you their capability.

Hi cjk,:jump:

finally my Penetrator X 84 arrived an regarding your concern i can confirm that the light pulls exactly what is advertised. I cant post pics yet since i dont have enough posts to do so, but believe me.
The light has two switches, one for 2 modules without the fan and one for the other two with the fan. Alltogether the pull was 82,2 watts. And the difference between the two strings was about 3 watts, this is what the fan pulls. When i swiched the light on only 2 out of the 4 modules worked. F..k, i thought what now? After watching thru the ventilation holes i noticed, that the plugs of one string were not connected. Sending the light back only because of that was no option. So i broke the warranty seal and opened the casing and just pluged them small plugs together. And the light did what it supposed to do. By the way the fan is quite noisy (for my understanding). Not so important for me since i am using the light where no absolute stealth is necessary. With the light itself i am happy so far, but now it has to prove. This light is recommended for a 2x2 area and exactly in thatarea i will be testing it. Sorry because english is not my mothertounge. Hope this helps.

peace
