Quick Question for the people smarter than I. (everybody, hehe)

I am going to top dress my large outdoor plants today and was wondering what you guys might think of the amounts and what I will add. My plants have 65-100 gal of fresh soil and are also in the ground. I plan on adding 1 cup of 0-7-0 bat guano to every plant. I was also thinking of top dressing a cup or two of EWC at the same time. Anybody think that is too much or not the right products?

BTW - I wear a mask when applying the bat poop.

Glad you asked this....My plants in a greenhouse straight into the ground. I've been top dressing with 2-15-2 guano every two weeks at a rate of 5 tablespoons per plant. Once a month I top dress with potash at 5 tablespoons per plant. I use MaxiCrop Seaweed Extract when watering as well.

Pretty good results so far but would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts.

When I'm not sure of things, I like to use them separately. That way it is easier to determine what each one is doing. I would start with the ewc to invigorate the soil, adding the guano later if I felt it was needed.

What Jay said...adding EWC/compost to any fert amendment will kick start the microbial process of breaking down that material....faster.

You can time the release rates of the ferts to a certain extent, based on the understanding the EWC's actions and come up with your own EWC/fert ratio that will give you a bit of wiggle room based upon the amount of fert/EWC to plant size.

azomite/rock dust - 1/8 cup per plant

Is this in addition to what I stated? I am guessing yes. Thank you.

very nice info, I like to hear what other people are having success with. I will have to consider the potash as well.

Love it. Work smarter not harder, thank you. Sometimes it is the simple things that amaze me the most.:tiphat:

I always add a couple cups of EWC every week or two. I am sure that is all good. I think I am ready to try out the guano and can still determine what causes any possible future signs of over fertilization. I tend to do the same as your advice, try not to over complicate things. Thanks for the advice.

Not only do I add the EWC but every watering is an application of MM's tea. So I would imagine the guano will become available very quick, considering guano are fast acting on their own. BTW, you said wiggle room while talking about EWC, you funny funny man.:). Thanks again for the input.

So I have decided to add 2 cups EWC, 1 cup 0-7-0 Guano, and 1/8 cup azomite per plant. Thanks for all the help everybody, and I will post up a pic or two in a week to show you guys how they look. Here is a group shot as a reference from last weekend.

At this time of year when the girls are starting to flower in most of the US I like to hit them good once with nitrogen. Just below the point of burning them. EWC is a great kicker. Some kelp and bat guano. I love Sativas and Sativa doms and found that if I start double dosing now with silica the girls will handle light frost and snow better down the road. I quit all for the last 4 weeks except for a sweetener to feed the critters so they can digest the nutrients and feed the roots. And let the girls stress into giving up more oils. Except for my seed mothers I feed them light nitrogen with bat guano up until the seeds are mature.

I wish I could have a home garden like that. The thought of going out the back door and tending to the girls with a nice cold beer on the patio. At 60 I am still trudging up and down mountains and farm fields to get to my patches. I am on my last gorilla grows this season. Next stop the Big Island with a backyard garden and a beer on the lanai. Sweet personal garden you have there.

Now why were you asking advice? Looks like you could give some. Nice job.
You're already amending with castings there is no reason not to mix at this point. I have a personal preference of amending first in which case I find I need little if any fertilization. I also feel the soil is better equipped to handle any abuse I give it in doing so.
My buddy, who grows in a worm bed , adds a little phosphorous and horse shit and nothing else so it sounds like you may be on the right track. certainly looks like you are.

Thanks for all the advice you guys. I have been growing for 10+ years now and I am just getting into organics the last 3-4 years. This is my first year attempting a mostly non - bottle organic grow using MM's tea's. I also used Subcool's soil mix with some alterations from the help of the organic crew here. Long story short is I love to grow and I find myself steering in the direction of pure organics with the soil food web always in mind. I also like to pick the brains of you guys, the people that have already taught me so much. That is why I continue to pick your guys brains even though I have a pretty good idea of what I should be doing. Thanks everybody for keeping me on track, hope everybody is having a good holiday weekend.

Jesus, BF.. where do you live? Your neighbors are cool with you growing the trees out in the open? You're not worried them getting
stolen? Great grow, BTW. I want to do what you're doing. Someday.
