High All. I just made the jump from my 10 year old pc to a new Mac. it's very kewl and i might have some hair left after trying to make the cross over. I have a couple equations tho9ugh, about security, such as: is there a photo editor for Mac that will allow me to strip the camera data form my pics like Irfanview did on my pc? Are there any other security concerns i should be aware of?

thanks in advance

No security concerns - just select an image and hit CMD (command) I and that will bring up the 'info' screen which will allow you to remove the exif data.

you know what they say... once you go mac... you never go back...

very kewl. i will give that a try. thank you! this is going to take a lot of getting used to. it's not as user friendly as some people claim

ok, in what program do i select and hit command? i selected a pic and command does nothing. i see where the info comes up in iPhoto, but it does not allow me to alter the info or delete it

download.com for all your freeware software needs.

I'd suggest macserialjunkie.com which is an amazing forum but that might be above your level if you are new to macs.

A couple of things I've noticed about mac.

1. Expose/Mission Control are really handy for switching between stuff.
2. Use VLC Media Player for all your video watching needs.
3. Use spotlight for launching apps it's faster
4. Download a decent pack of 1920x1080 wallpapers and set it to change every hour. It's amazing.

that just take s awhile.. LOL
I am going to give Gimp a try for photo editing. Had to download Xcode and MacPort first, though. But it appears to work like a charm. it's gonna take months to put all of my cd's on this computer. glad i got a 2 terabyte hd

i appreciate everyone's suggestions! thank you

ok, i have pretty much spent all weekend playing with this and i'm really starting to like it.
here's what i did for a photo editor.
1) Gimp - I downloaded Gimp, which was free. and it's a very nice photo editor. probably more than i need. Not very easy to resize pics, but has some nice feature. It's made for Mac. Since Gimp is open source code, I also had to download Xcode, which was also free, and then download MacPort, in order to run Gimp. Actually, it was very easy to do. Gimp does not remove camera data.

2) I also got Adobe Photoshop Photoshop Elements. This is way more than i need, is very nice but very difficult to resize pics. In fact, it's a complete pain in the ass to resize pics using this. This also does not remove camera data.

3) So I did some searching and downloaded Winebottler. Winebottler is a program that will allow a person to use Windows programs as apps on a Mac. Then< after watching a couple youtube tutorial videos, I downloaded Irfanview, used Winbottler to convert it and it works just absolutely fine. I'm so happy! For those that do not know, Irfanview will resize and edit photos very easily. Also, Irfanviw gives you the option of what camera and photo information you want to keep when you save a pic after editing. How fuckin kewl is that, eh?

i think i'm starting to like this Mac thing.
