thome was placed on trade waivers today he also has a no trade clause so he can deny going anywhere and become a unrestricted free agent then the phillies can pick him up, i hope this happens.

Maybe I heard wrong S4L...I am a stoner :D hehehe

I thought I heard the same comment,I knew it to be untrue and wrote it off as just a miscue by the announcer. It was on a nationally broadcast program.

^^ exactly, fuck bonds too. 73 hr in a season is just crazy, didnt he set a record for most intentional walks or something also that year? I know he wasnt roided out his whole career but in my eyes Hammerin' Hank is still the hr leader.

Bonds head doubled in size in the course of a year, im not talkin figuratively here, the dudes head really did get big.

With that said, congrats Thome for doing it the right way. Griffey has always been my favorite player, i wish he coulda stayed healthy, he had such a sweet hr swing.

You said a mouthful right there. K+

Any of these modern day cats, save maybe a few, all had the benefit of 'modern medicine' in their pursuits.Always liked Jr. myself...lots of respect for Chipper as well.Just seem like throwback players to me.

Anyways, Philly wins the Thome pickem if he becomes available...Christ, he all but publicly blew Charlie Manuel in that press conference after his 600th(hats off to JT)...kind of like the old vet with no more mountains to climb, except for that elusive ring....he wants to be a Phillie again.San Fran probably needs him the most though.

HUGE record setting night for the Yankees, game starts 90 mins late for rain & they're down 7-1 in the third inning when they finally started connecting, by the games end they had hit 3 grand slams (MLB record) and routed the Oakland A's 22-9.......

Cano, Martin & Granderson hit the slams, the Yankees came to bat 16 times in this game w/the bases loaded giving them several chances to hit more slams.

giants fans are awfully quiet lately :)

They are quaking in fear of the Dbacks (9 game winning streak, 6 games ahead of SF, swept the last 2 series they played- Padres then Rockies). If they don't win the three game series this weekend against Arizona, they can kiss the NL West goodbye.

On the other hand, after winning 9 straight, is it time for Az to lose a few? We will see.

D-Backs have been a classic late fade team in recent years...watch out for them Braves as well.

the NL has some scary good teams this year :bangshead:

What a great game last night!!! Beltron was on fire!! Hopefully the expanded roster will help them out! They need to stay hot to make to the playoffs, if they do anything can happen.
The Franchise on Showtime finished up this week, what a great series!

GO GIANTS!

Giants played good ball last night! Cain kicked ass, as did Beltran. Az pitching was weak (Saunders sick, apparently) and their bats went cold. SF 5 games back now.

Tonight: Lincecum (two-time Cy Young winner) vs Kennedy (Az's new ace, leads National League with 17 wins).

Should be an awesome game!

GO DBACKS!

mofeta - I love that you are repping your team, but the Giants are not going to make this easy for you guys. I have to agree with your assessment of tonight's game, should be an awesome pitching duel. I love this game!

That's for sure. It was do or die last night, and they played like their lives depended on it. The SF fans were killing it too! They really backed their team, they should be proud. Haven't seen that kind of intensity much this season, they deserved the win. I really enjoy seeing players digging deep and finding the heart to win. Even if it's the Giants! lol!

I hope so! Kennedy has been kicking ass, but he is still an unknown quantity, can he keep it up? I hope his teammates back him up a little better than they did Saunders last night.

I have little doubt that Lincecum will turn in an excellent performance as usual.

I love this game!

Hell Yeah!! I can't wait for the game tonight!

SF couldn't pull it together. Lincecum had an off night. Beltran made a serious mistake (tried to run on Gerardo Parra, aka "rifle arm").

The Dbacks were nearly flawless. Kennedy allowed only one run in 7 innings, and Paul Goldschmidt hammered one out into Barry Bonds territory (especially notable, since he is right-handed). Goldschmidt is only the second player to ever hit two homers against Lincecum in a season.

The result: Az wins, 6-2. Back to 6 games ahead of SF.

Tonight- Hudson vs. Vogelsong rubber match. Vogelsong has not been pitching well recently, and Hudson allowed only one run in 8 innings the last time he pitched against SF last month.

If SF loses tonight, I think its over for them in the NL West. There just aren't enough games left to dig themselves out. If Az loses, it's no big deal to them, they will still be 5 games ahead.

GO DBACKS!!

Yeah it was Philadelphia that started the Ddbacks 6 game losing streak last month, we lost two to them and then lost a 3 game series against the Braves (who are now 8.5 games behind Philly). We started out good in the series against Philly, by beating Roy Halladay, but things went downhill after that. I look forward to playing them in the postseason.
