I currently do about £170 a month on electric. 1600w flower and 660w veg.

Never had an issue. So long as bill is paid. I give a regular meter readings.

My friend has a fairly large house and family. Has a small sauna and a 17 kw power shower. 5 kids all wil plasmas and games consoles, always on. No illegal grow shit. Does easy over £200 a month.

I've recently swapped to t5's for veg there doing a great job and saving on electric.

I agree with what's been posted never steal piwer they can track the electric loss down. As long as ya pay your bill on time then they will be on your side all they care about is making money. Best of luck

How smart works

There are many electricity monitors currently on the market, similar to our 'EnergySmart' monitor. Smart meters are more advanced than electricity monitors because they measure actual, total gas and electricity usage as you use it. This links directly to your bill, so you only pay for what you use.
  • Smart meters take accurate readings of your energy usage every day.
  • These readings are automatically sent to British Gas using wireless technology similar to a mobile phone.
  • You'll receive an accurate energy bill without having to submit meter readings.
peace

I Would like to add .. That as a working Locksmith all of the above is completely true ...

a lot of my work is from the utilities companies ,, gaining access to empty properties mostly

the electric and gas companies have become extremely aggressive in recent years ... and even meter readers are offered stab jackets and pepper spray (for use against dogs)

there aim is to be able to read/adjust your meter/payment you make .. without the need to enter the property

these new meters will be installed throughout the country .. but could take 10+ years

Think it'll become the law fairly soon for the companies to install them.. The only thing holding it back is the wranglings about who will pay for it.. The generators, retail suppliers or the gov. I used to work for an electric company and had to pay other suppliers rentals for meters they owned when customer switched supplys. But as long as people paid the bill we didn't care what usage they cloaked up.. Infact we tended to aim for high usage clients.

How to calculate the cost of your grow.

1 Calculate the total wattage of all you equipment in your grow room. For arguments sake lets say you are running a total of 400 watts. (250 hps and a couple of fans etc)

2 Multiply this figure by the total amount of hours the equipment is working for each day. ie 18x400 during the flowering light cycle. This figure is the amount of kilowatt hours the equipment is using. This gives us a figure of 7200kw/hrs

3 Divide this figure by 1000 to give you the amount of units you are using each day. 7200/1000= 7.2 units

4 On you bill you will find the cost of a unit of electicity. Lets say that its 15 pence per unit. Multiply 7.2 units x .15 and this gives you the cost of running you grow room per day which in this case is £1.08.

Multiply by the number of days in the month and you have the total cost per month to run the grow.

Hope this helps.

you can get away with a 1000w per bedroom that the house has,,, this is a rough rule based on average electricity consumption, well it was anyway i wouldnt mind betting people are used less electricity than even a few years ago now,,, the lights can be in the same room though obviously,,

the smart meters wont be a problem until everything has smart chips in them that can talk with the smart meter,, they are going to squeeze us financially (already have done nearly) back to the dark ages and force us to buy them ,,,, this "new world", if you like, is just around the corner now,,, if you cant already feel the change you must be the undead...

feudalism here we come. shitty technology just constantly used to ruin our lives..

If anybody truly has a real problem with a UK Power Co and has noticed them getting shitty and deliberately pursuing Growers, I have a nice solution for curing the problem really quickly.

It is really simple, but best not to post on open forum.

We could also start posting up who is cool, who is nosey, it might just help some ppl decide which Co to use.
