I've practiced Muay Thai for years and have tried a few other disciplines. Yes, it's an amazing self confidence booster. Yes it keeps you in shape and yes it helps you in the self defense arena.
Thing is it lulls folks into a false sense of security. In class, people pull punches, their life in no way depends on technique and it creates an unrealistic scenario. In the real world. Your opponent will do anything in his/her power to take you out. If that means kicking you in the balls as hard as possible. Reaching down and trying to rip your balls completely off or just gouging your eyes out...It's a completely different world in the streets.
Sure, your odds are much better with training but that by no means says you're safe.

FreezerBoy, I don't normally push an issue...and I won't push it if it is going to be an issue now--
But this was about if you know, and how you defend yourself if attacked-- Are we all s'pose to just curl up in a ball, and give up our crops, or other valuables if robbed...hoping we, and our families survive??
I think an attack, when confronted by this type of situation...is considered "Defensive"...and Justified--
Sorry, I just don't see how this violates TOU...it is not Offensive, nor is it "Random" violence...it is Self-Preservation--
When you have large amounts of Product, or Cash...this could very quickly be very pertinent info--

It doesn't have to be LARGE amounts of anything.
Street punks will try to rob you for anything if they are desperate, and if you don't defend yourself, who will? They could be armed also.
Like Bas Rutin said, "in the street, there are no rules". And that's why I love my mace.

Myself...I am sitting out here, with a 100 lb crop....and if someone comes for it...mace will prolly not be enough--

If it is only the crop...and I feel it will be a violent confrontation...I will disappear into the desert, and live to grow another crop next time--
If they were to kick in the front door...and attack me personally...I have clubs, knives and the heart to do what I have to...to live--
We do not keep guns here, as the danger of getting rolled by LEO is prolly greater than rippers...so we just don't have them--

Get the gel. It's bad ass. And throw in the spray too, just make sure you are not down wind of it when you spray. I have a bunch of these, and give them to girls for their protection to ward off those aggressive guys. They love it.

I was attacked by a gang of raccoons and had to defend myself from the muggers with bear spray ... it just pissed them off, I really doubt that stuff could stop a angry bear.
