Vert water system

Hi guys. I am needing help designing water system for my vert set up.

I have an idea of what I want to do, pump water from res to a main feed ring at top, with lines coming down and then going across each shelf. Planning on using mini on/off valves to be able to compensate for pressure @ different levels...

here is the set up

Now my questions are...

1) What pump do I need for this job? There will be around 20 plants.

2) What size/shape res is optimal?

3) How do I set up top up res?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can't help you with the pump size but you will need to answer some questions before people will be able to help you.

1. size of pots

2. length of run

3 height of run from rez

4. size of pipe before you split to individual pots.

5 how much you want to deliver to each plant and how often.

There may be more I missed but this will help people size the pump.

Thanks Ichabod

Using 2-3 gallon pots

Length of run? Res will be ~2 feet from tent

Height of run from rez? Tent is 5 feet tall, so around that

I have 100 feet of 1/2 tubing so was planning on using that to go from pump to tent

Will be watering once a day until late flower....thanks

I´ll say go for a 1000 gph pump
Roughly 4000 L/H pump.
This due to be sure the waterflows at the top is present even when the lower valves is open!
Or how does it work? Do you have a drawing or blueprint of a kind?

If you get a pump that is to large you can divert back to the rez for increased aeration of the nute solution. Also you may want to put valves on each elevation so you can control the amount to that level and not starve the top plants of water. As you get farther along in your grow you can also cut back on the rez overflow as your plants need more nute solution.
