Hello all! i am here in Michigan, awaiting my medical card (paperwork mailed May 20) as a patient and my own caregiver. I am planning my first *offical* grow. I grew a small plant with cfls under my stairs a few years ago and had few grams of nice looking, bad tasting (uncured, overdried) after that, another small plant, outdoors.... similar results. Since then, and the passing of MM laws here..... the variety and quality of meds has skyrocketed. (so has the price......) and my motivation to start a garden. i have plans, i have attic space with a low ceiling. going to go hempy, T5 8 bulb and good clones or seeds..... thanks all TEDious

Here in MI, the law states that 30 days after mailing paperwork, you're considered legal, unless you get a rejection letter. currently takin about 5-6 months to get cards. So, reasonably i can grow and stay inside the law..... I bought a 4ft 8bulb t5 yesterday off CL, the guy threw in an unused set of 6400k bulbs :-o , it had 3000k in it when i picked it up..... woot

I am surprised to hear that you guys have to wait 30 days; out here (CO), we're legal as soon as the doc signs the papers.

Any idea what strain/s you are going to run? Something delicious I'm sure!

Thanks all for the warm welcome.... the 30 days is supposed to be so they can review paperwork and reject if it isnt valid.... also time to cash the check for the app fee.

as for strains, etc...... going to go coco hempy buckets with Scrog , t5 only for veg and flower (i know , ppl say you cant, ive seen enough threads showing otherwise, worth the try) going to start with 4-5 and see how it all goes.

i have a dedicated space in my attic with pull down stairs, room will be 10 x 12 with the center area at about 5 feet, part of the reason to go flouro.
i am going to install dedicated power, water line and a drain.

wont be long now, also i know a few people that can get me some cuttings or even rooted clones of sone nice medical grade strains.

IMHO attics are the worst place to grow due to poor air circulation, low ceiling height and heat. I use 1 t5 (8 bulb) in my mother room, this is a standard 10x8x9 room and a ac unit is needed to keep the temps down at times, can't imagine how hot it would be in an attic.

Also as good as cfl's are I personally would not use them for flowering. You are legal now, so do things right. Get a hps or mh for flowering, trust me it is worth it. The quality of your meds will be immensly better than what a cfl would produce.

thanks for the concern and tips. i am going to make the attempt, because its the only space i have available, and the attic is new, i planned to aleviate the thermal issues with proper insulation and fresh air intake from a soffit and outdoor venting through a different soffit.

on another note, there are a few T5 grows on the web with pretty nice results. going to try, we'll see what i can get. the force is with me.

Welcome, attics are fun. Watch out when it snows, you will lose all your roof snow first and people will start to notice. Just sayin', I know your legal...but the less folks that know the better.

im not too worried about snow melt, putting up 2" foam on the joists with a thermal foil on one side, also have a ridgevent helping move that warm air....
