Yellowing/drying of new growth and random burn spots, 1st run on coco hempy buckets

Hi Everyone,

One my first run of coco hempy buckets and starting to have a few problems. For a while everthing was going great and now i am noticing some yellowing of new growth. On some plants there is slight curling. The leaves seem to be drying out and there are random spots that look almost like nute burn, but I dont know if thats it or not.

I am using tap water that is about 8.2 ph and about 250 ppm. I didnt know the ppms where this high until last night and i got a digital reader. But have been using ph down, unfortionately i dont think i was taking it low enough (was only using ph dropper kit). Now that i have my meter I am taking ph to 6.1 and with nutes i am at about 1000 ppms i think. Temps run between 70-80 and humidity is usually 50%, sometimes gets up to 60.

For nutes I'm using all technaflora in the following dosages:
Boost 1/2 strength
Grow full strenth
B1 ThriveAlive full strength
Magikal 1/2 strength
sugar daddy 1/2 strength

I really dont have a lot of experience, this will be my 2nd time flowering so any help would be greatly appreciated
Here are some pictures of plants:

small pots leave little room for error!

I think a cal/mag deficiency is disclouring the leaves.

BUT before you apply epsom salts there is a nutrient problem because it's manifesting on the edges most ... however because the spotting is also near the centre of the leaf the problem may be associated with a pH imbalance.

so how long since yr last flush? can't hurt to flush them and check pH. I 'll be back tomorrow.

Thanks for replying! I actually flushed them with tap the other day, but didnt realize my tap was about 7.6 I have been trying to correct that. Last night when i checked my runoff the ph was between 6.1-6.3. I have also been using calmag at 1/2 strength every feeding.

oh btw, i posted these on another site as well and somebody is saying it could be low on K. Anyone think that?

Two things.
One, your PH is too high for coco. Should be 5.5-5.8 going in.
PH problems mean lockouts of various nutrients.
So instead of guessing about what nutes might be off, get your PH straight first.
The other thing, I think you should mix your tap water with RO water, which will lower your PPMs and allow you to adjust your nutes properly.
What is your run off PH?
I'm guessing it will be high.

ph runoff is about 6.1-6.3. Would you recommend just flushing it and then using some ro water and tap along with a light dose of nutes? Thanks

can anyone confirm if it looks more like a p or a k deficiency? its mostly the plant with thinner leaves I'm trying to figure out. The leaves are now very yellow at the top of plant. Also getting brittle, but not curling, so I'm at a loss.

spaceboy ...

K can cause spotting leaves like that ... and so can drops of water that magnify the effects of yr lights and burn the leaves ... but we're saying the issue is more complex than that.

yellowing of top leaves for example is NOT NECESSARILY a K problem or a P problem either.

you must resolve the pH issue. when you do that yr ferts will correct the problem.

before you can be sure the pH issue must be solved.

I have the ph down to 6.0 right now, also just got the canna coco recommended nutes. The plant that I'm having the most problems with is a very large plant, about 3 months old so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. Should i flush this again with tap water ph'd to 5.8? My taps ppms are 450. Also should i not feed until ph is down to 5.8?

Thanks everyone

Don't flush with tap water. Use RO water for flushing, then adjust your nutrient solution to PH 5.8. Your tap water PPMs are way high, so mix it with RO water to cut that number in half, one gallon tap, one gallon RO. Once you've done that, your plants will be fine.

from what I can see, it's a potassium deficiency. Shit can get locked out from high salt content, and I know coco can be salty.

Right Jimmy. Hence the advice to flush with RO and get PH straightened out. After that, everything should be straighten itself out.
