Former Mexican President want a truce with Cartels

Maybe he should have grown a set of balls while he was a CURRENT president.



MEXICO CITY (AP) — Former Mexican President Vicente Fox says maybe it's time to consider a truce with drug traffickers and even an amnesty for them as a way to stop violence in Mexico.
Fox says authorities "at the highest level" should also consider legalizing drugs.
The former president, however, says "exemplary measures" must be taken against the attackers who set a casino on fire and killed 52 people in Monterrey.
His comments Friday go against President Felipe Calderon's strategy of sending troops and federal police to confront drug traffickers.
Fox was criticized for his anti-drug strategy, which focused on arresting top drug lords. His critics say the approach created a power vacuum that led to a spiral of violence between rival gangs.

In this months Rolling Stone magazine with an artical about the cartels and it has an absolutely horrifying picture of 2 men's body's that had been beheaded, stripped naked and hung upside down from a highway over pass, those fuckers are no joke that's some sick shit. I also read today where 2 gunmen went into a casino, poured gas all over and lit the place on fire trapping 56 peeps, that's some crazy shit.

Read/heard about the casino yesterday. Horrible things they do. Not so horrible that our own gov wouldn't make a deal with them allowing them with dea support no doubt, import their drugs over our borders and distribute them while standing by. All for info on the other cartels.

these guys are brutal, they rival the Escobar cartel in the 80s for violence and perhaps already have a higher body count. high political figures, police and military all fair game, my guess is the locals and tourists killed are done to destroy govt confidence and to collapse the tourism economy. citizens might then be relying upon the drug lords for their income and safety.

This is probably an incredibly over simplified answer but I think it's $. Taxes, bribes, funds, profits, etc. You know the stor(ies)y. I think it's become too big and complicated to turn around and nobody really has any reason to. Both the cartels and the governments would be pissed if legalization started to take hold.

The police officers/soldiers getting killed are obviously not the ones cashing in on this. But for every one of their heads comes another reason to demand more funding for the war on drugs (which ends up in the hands of the guys "higher up" the ladder, the guys who make decision). By this analysis, it cant get too violent to be profitable.

As cynical as it sounds, I truly believe this is the case.

Yeppers. We need as many people as possible to registered as republicans so they can vote in the primaries and Dr. Paul can take the republican nomination. If not I am sure he will run as an Independent.
