YO!

Been lurking on the site for ages really, looks a real ' pro ' site
just have a few questions..

I will be growing an autoflower ( only one ) with CFL'S on 18/6.. i've seen people grow good yields with low watts so im gonna take a go ( first time grower ) , i have a 60x60x140cm grow space but i'm just going to use one plant atm, here are my questions..

1 . I have an autoflower so will using the 2700k spectrum all throughout be alright?

2 . I currently have three ceramic ( lampholders ) sockets to use..
will it be fine if i put 3 x 20w CFL'S producing 1440 lumens each in their? for a couple of weeks, i will add on 3 more later.

3 . Can i acheieve good results with CFL'S? other forums usually bash these but with a micro grow section they seem to do really well

4 . Will 120w ( overall ) be enough to pull off 20-30g of a good yielding autoflower in the right conditions.. ( maybe temp 85-90f )..
the bulbs will be 6 x 20w 2700k CFL's

Sorry for range of questions, just need to know
thanks, will be lurking alot :D

80-85 is OK. 90 is no good. You need to get temps dialed in before you continue. Adding three more lights will only increase temps.

There are plenty of solid cfl growers and grows. Anti, Blynx, etc. You should know that with all the lurking.

You might get 7 grams. It all depends on environment. If you want yield, get a strain you can control the veg time. Autos are for pussies.

What size pot will you be using and with what medium, that is going to determine yield more than anything for an AF. BTW what strain are you running?

5 gallon pot
and its a strain from a new company.. its from justfeminized
andits called short rider

and medium is westlands compost with added john innes

and SGT.. auto's maybe are for pussies.. or for people having a first test grow?>

Good, 5gal is a great size, plenty of root space. I'm not familiar with Short Rider though chances are you'll get a decent yield in that setup. If my math is right you have a 4sqft grow space which is enough for many more plants. I would be running at least 4 to maximize your production, one plant in that room seems like a waste of space. If you have more seeds and equipment (pots, medium, etc.) then you should defiantly try more plants. Although you'll need to get your temps in check before you commit to this grow.

Also, is there a reason you chose Short Rider rather than some more documented AF's like those from Mdanzig and SGS? I haven't seen enough on it to know much about its performance though I'm sure you will have some decent results come harvest time.

Thanks for the reply
basically i was going to grow 2 plants but then both of my 125w CFL lights died..
So i think im going to get the short rider planted then in week 3 plant another plant
a good stable high yielding auto like ' onyx ' from short stuff seeds
i have two 5 gallon pots so i will only be growing two

And the reason i have chosen short rider is because the company is new to autoflowering seeds and being a cheaper company with a very professional look, their has only been a handful of reviews of it, and their ' auto ak47 ' is a HIGH yielder with HPS.. it will basically be my test grow, their test grow and plenty other of people searching for reviews on the seedbank.

Will running 3 x 20w CFL'S produces 1200 lumens each be alright for an auto?
or should i add on more
but for the first 3-4 weeks will it be alright?

their 2700k bulbs because i cannot order online atm, and the only shops do are that kelvin measurement, which i heard is OK for vegging.. couldnt find a blue spec.. and being auto's i thought that light would be better for the ' flowering ' part.

I prefer blue throughout if I have to chose, even for AF's but if it is all you have avalible it will do fine. I don't think 3 lights will be enough in that space for the whole grow but it should be alright for the first few weeks if you keep them close to the plant. I wouldn't suggest adding another plant 3 weeks in unless you can make sure you give adequate lighting for both, and you will defiantly have poor results if you attempt it without the extra lights. If you do decide to add it try to position the lights accordingly as one will be significantly larger than the other (3-4weeks is about when AF's start getting big IME).

What kind of ventilation do you have? Without proper venting/circulation your temps can get very out of control not to mention lack of air exchange and plant movement.

I have a 4" fan hooked up as an exhaust

so how many 20w bulbs do you think i should get for a whole growth of my auto?

Ideally you'd use more powerful CFL's, they are readily available locally in several wattages (23/27/ect.). When I use CFL's I like using 27w and 42w bulbs, I find anything bigger gets too hot and anything much smaller (i.e. 13w) are too weak.

i thought you have been "lurking"? you really should use the search option to answer all your problems. i hate to nag, but it seems that you can get all this info using the SEARCH tab.
