Grow Tent Info. Needed

Greetings friends. I'm getting ready to grow in a grow tent. The purchased room is 4X4X7 the light is a 1000w switchable MH/HPS with magnetic ballast. Hung on yo yo's. Don't want to pay extra for digital ballast yet. Exhaust is Centrifugal canfan 6" diameter 500CFM with carbon filter will, fan will be pulling air through the scrubber. Second fan hooks up directly to light with another 6" centrifugal canfan that is 440CFM and will be pulling heat off the light.

Will be using the old school orange terracotta pots to grow in. Will not overload the room. Will have a clip on fan on LOW setting for mild air circulation. Got a thermometer/hygrometer in room. I do have a portable air conditioner/heater for climate control.

Now then, a I missing anything important or am I headed for troubled waters? Please let me know if I am. I appreciate all your input and advice. Many thanks! :thank you:
PS: Is there a certain thing to use to hang the inline fans inside the cab? Alternatively, should I put the carbon filter and both fans outside the tent to help maintain a more stable temperature?

If you can have the ballast and fans outside the tent it should help with the heat. Tents get pretty hot with 1k.
I just set up a 5x5 with an adjust a wing and window ac.
Check it out.
Good luck with your set up.

That's a great setup. Have you ever thought about putting the filter outside the tent? Is that possible? If so, would it be ok for me to do so on my tent? I have the room.

I'm pretty sure you can. You would just be pushing air through the filter instead of pulling through. You might want to cut the pre filter and put in on the inside of the filter.

Oh yea, durr. I'm prolly just gonna put it inside the cab then. I hear the filters work best if air is pulled. No biggie

So far I can't get the temps down to where they need to be. I even have the AC duct going directly into the damn tent. I hit the high 80's. and keep tripping the circuit breaker :( Back to the drawing board lol

Are you running an air cooled reflector?
If not, your going to need one. IMO.
I run 1000's in 4x4's, no way in hell would I do it without a/c hoods.
Deffo keep ballasts outside tents. If you can pull air through your filter.

Bottom line though, you MUST get those temps under control ASAP.
The best seeds, most expensive fertz, and fancy doo-dads CANNOT make up for poor climate.
Good luck!!!

Like HYF said you had better be aircooled or asking for trouble. I have no probs keeping my tent in the 70's. Room temp is n between 72-76. Good luck.

yea, i duct my ac into my light and blow it over the bulbs in the tent and exhaust that. should help keep the tent same as the outside room temp.

If you can spare the expense you could get some LED lights. You wouldn't need AC, and the energy savings from it all would be substantial.

Thanks guys. I do have a 6" air cooled reflector. I have a 440CFM centrifugal fan blowing over it. The fan is just outside the tent mounted even with the tent hole. I also have a 540CFM carbon scrubber inside sucking air through the scrubber and venting outside the tent.1K MH and HPS bulb ran only one at a time. I have the ballast outside the tent as well. I think the biggest problem is that the outside temps of the room are ambient 82 degrees F. So, the air shooting over the 1k bulb is already fairly warm, jettisoning said air back into the damn room, just to be sucked back over the bulb. The good thing is that it's almost fall here which means cooler temperatures thank goodness. I do have the portable AC vented outside. It blows some serious hot ass air. I'm trying my best to work with what I have however. What do you guys think is the MAX temperature I can get away with? I do have a fan circulating back and forth inside the tent as well as two little clip fans on either corner. Wouldn't I build up condensation over the bulbs if I ran my air conditioner duct over it?

Damn. It's only 70F outside but it's now 87.4 inside the tent :(

I'd run the a/c unit in the room, to lower the temp inside the room your tent is in. It sounds like you have your fan pushing air through your tent. Generally speaking, it's best to have your fan, last in line, i.e. scrubber-hood-fan. Run some 6 in ducting from the exhaust side of your fan outside of the room your tent is in.

With 82 degree temps, outside your tent, it's going to be tough.

where is your ac unit? it should be cooling the air in the room the tent it in to about 70 if possible. if your not exhasting the heat from the bulb into the attic or another room you will have to have an ac. i would try and do both, as hold your fire describes above.

Agreed. I know what the problem is. The room I am in is HUGE as hell. It's about 15' wide by about 20 yards. It's basically a sun room that isn't insulated very well. The AC is just not enough to cool that room. The ceiling is over 12' tall so most of the heat is up there but still, not enough to cool the room. :( Got to rethink this issue. Crap. :artist:

Ok. Sealed up the grow tent and directly vented the AC into it. Temps are at 80F and dropping. :) Now, if the circuit breaker stops tripping, I'll be good. :) It's been a long day.

I got the temps at a stable 80 F. so I guess that's an improvement. I'll just have to deal with that considering the room I'm working with. :) Thanks everybody for helping me try to figure this out. Peace.
