Rockwool Disposal?

I have been told, that submersed in properly PHed water, rockwool will turn to sand, or a sand like substance. Is this true, and if so, would anyone happen to know what that PH is? the way it was described to me was "just pour hella ph down in the water and youll be winning". Would like some info thats a bit clearer lol.

Thanks in advance

Natural rockwool has a very high PH and must be conditioned to be used in hydroponics, so it could be true.

You should give it a try and see what happens, I just throw mine in the compost pile.

i know that if u get fibers that pierce the skin or breathed in, the body dissolves it with the bodys higher acidic levels so maybe u could try vinger i know the ph levels are around 2-3pH for vinger or sumthing along those lines rockwool has calcium 11% so maybe the Hannibal theory might work lol..

im going to try and bust this myth with a bucket of used rockwool and roots, the ph wont go lower than 1.7 on my meter even if I keep adding PH down.

It will turn to sand. I got my clones in RW and transplanted them to my EZ cloner after peeling most of the RW off. Whatever was left on the roots fell of and ended up in my rez, each res change, less and less sand was seen as it was continued to breakdown.

after a cycle ive let my cubes dry out completely until i do a trash run, once used and dried up they crush up pretty easy into a sandish pile...

throw it in your neighbors trash and watch the police kick his door in! lol:noway: just kidding shit would be funny though! i just let mine dry out and then empty it on my trash run!

buy a mop ringer, the heavy duty yellow ones, thats what I used to do, I could get 144 6in cubes into about 2 bags of trash
