i soaked five Critcal Mass feminized seeds in damp paper towels. Saran wrapped with another plate placed on top. 48hrs later they look like they were starting to split but no tap root.

i put them in solo cups anyways. buried them 1/4inch deep. damp soil. 300watt cfl is 4 inches or so above top of cups.

are my beans gonna sprout? is there anything I can do to help the process? i was very suprised there was no tap root in 48hrs. this is essentially the first time every popping beans and trying to grow and harvest from seed.

If you are going to use paper towels to germinate, I think you should wait till they have nice, long tails before you transplant them. Even if you had to wait a few more days.

How long have they been in the soil now? They may or may not sprout, but they cracked so that is a good sign. Make sure to not over-water now that they are in soil. Time will tell really.. give them a week+ see what happens.

My Critical+ fems germ in less than 24 hours using paper towel method, but I did have problems with Blue Cheese that wouldn't germ at all. After that I had some Super Lemon Haze seeds that were really tiny, and they started to crack, but didn't have the energy to get out of their seed casings. I think some seed dealers don't let heir seeds mature enough in an effort to speed up their profits.
Whenever I make seeds, they are always fat and always pop because I wait. I have noticed lately that many seeds are coming really small. Not Sam's Haze seeds which are really tiny. My second batch of Super Lemon Haze seeds were twice as big as the first batch and no problem germing them.
I think the seed dealers need to let the seeds mature more in some cases.

It does sound like you got some immature seeds.
This is a bigger problem and probably deserves it's own thread. With the profit margin on seeds, you would think that seed makers would give seeds the time to mature.
I don't think that is happening in all cases.
