Cannabis and M.S. experience needed!

I've been dealing with what I (and a chiropractor I used to see) understand is a pinched nerve in my neck since about 1994

Due to this and a variety of other symptoms which have arose in past years I'm having an MRI done in a week or so and seeing a neurologist who is to see if I my have MS. This neurologist has already signed MMAR forms for some people I know.

I'd like to know specifically what relief M.S. folks get from smoking the stuff, could all the weed I've smoked been preventative slowing the onset of symtoms...I'm 34 now.

In fact any info regarding ms and cannabis appreciated - first had experience preferred...thanks!

Hey bhodi -

I don't have much to offer except what has already been put on this site, I hope all goes well with you . What I do know is cannabis will help with muscle spasms, easing pain, and help w/ sleep. Though I am certain there's allot more . Be brave :comfort:

You may or may not have seen these, but I think there worth posting.

Bhodi welcome to IC Mag. I have neck nerve issues + fusion, but do not have MS, not that I know of. I do know a patient that does and uses cannabis infused in honey in her tea. She claims her quality of life would not be tollerable without cannabis. If I can I'll ask her, the next time I see her, just how specifically it helps her. Good luck, sorry to hear of your ailment, please keep us in the loop, be well, DD

thanks guys

thanks guys

I realize I could have just done a search but I'm kind of a luddite and sitting at my computer for more than a couple of minutes (using mouse and keyboard) makes my neck and shoulder ache and or spasm right quick.

And I prefer face to face so asking a question of and getting an answer from real people means way more to me then sifting through my Dogpile results...(thats right dogpile! - screw google!! of course dogpile searches it for me...

thanks for the links euphrates and doobieduck! any other info appreciated

It's understandable about the search thing. I use to get picked on for that searching issue too. But you seem very new to this. So how would u know what to search? By all means don't feel bad for that. We are patients helping patients here. well most of us. You took the first step by asking for help. Bravo. Now about ms. I have a few friends who have lived with it for years.I do believe that cannabis does kill dead cells, and blushes them out, thus allowing new cells to form. These are just my opinions on the matter. I believe this to b true for a lot of human cell division process. Thus keeping our skin looking young... I do believe it does have properties to slow, down the process, and who knows, maybe even to a crawl. Our government is well aware of this. they are just trying to figure out how to make money on it. Just my opinions with marijuana and. Ms from my own research and years for a thirst of knowlegen. Read stormy crows links. She did an awesome job collaborating scientific studies over the years into one link. Hope that helped some. Your not alone, and many here will h able to help u.

My Mrs. has gotten feedback from MS patients that they get real good relief when they eat her canna products, way more than smokeing it.

edables are for sure the way to go. seems to help the most, except for the cognition issues.made cookies with 70 grams of good trim and popcorn buds for 24 cookies. one cookie will ease the pains and muscle spasms, 2 cookies for really bad days.

I have a close family member that is an MS patient. She has an advanced and somewhat extreme case in which she shakes or spasses uncontrollably to the point that her speech is affected. She can not speak a full sentence without having to stop because of the spasticity. This was of course, until I introduced her to cannabis, again. She used to be a pothead in her younger years but gave it up as she grew older, she now chooses medibles for relief from the spasticity.

My buddy has MS...his right hand is almost useless, very spastic...
So one day, I said some kind of off-color remark to him, and he said, "I'll shoot you!!"--
I reminded him, he could prolly not hit a single person....BUT...he could definitely cover a whole room!! :ying:
I love my bro...and I can see the immediate relief that cannabis provides him....with every hit--:)

Cannabis will definitely help with MS symptoms.

There has been research surfacing lately that involves curing some varieties of MS by putting a stent in a non-draining vein in the patient's head. Seems the slow movement of blood causes problems. Not always the same spot, not always the same symptoms but all decay/sclerosis. Hence the name Multiple sclerosis... multiple areas of the brain and symptoms that share a related group of issues.

I think the chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency theory is far from proven, and I've seen several abstracts that have come out in the past few weeks that seem to suggest no link...

My hubby has been making an oil that can be swallowed, smoked on a bowl, dropped on the toungue, swallowed in a capsule, or dipped on a cigarette. He does several steps to refine this so that it is totally pure and very smooth. He also likes to make cooking oil with cannabis. I think some kind of oil or hash concoction would give you a lot of different ways to measure and administer doses. From what he has been reading, it is best to take level doses throughout the day so that you don't get too out of whack or in pain, so that's why the oil is nice. You can keep a small vial of it on you or the capsules and easily step aside and consume either, even while at work. Just make sure not to burp near anyone afterward, if you care if they know you smoke. Also, be careful not to pee next to an uptight colleague in the work bathroom, b/c your pee can smell skunky. One of our friends and fellow growers has MS, although his symptoms are mild. We all firmly believe that it is bc of cannabis. We also have friends with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scleraderma, fused joints, previous back surgeries, anxiety, IBS, sleep problems and the like and all of these are eased by smoking pot. There is now evidence that cannabis can prevent or at least delay onset/intensity of everything from MS, Scleraderma, Osteoperosis, Alzheimer's, and many other obvious disorders of the body that could be linked to a malfunction in the endo-cannabanoid system. Too bad our govt is racing to research these things and give poeple relief. Oh wait, that would enable us to be free to treat ourselves and one another. And we aren't rich corporate fat cats who employ lobbyists. :)
